UK BBSers: From Russia with SNOW....

Had a decent amount of snow here yesterday, which had all melted by today.

If this Arctic apocalypse is moving north-westwards, how come I'm seeing a slightly chilly, but albeit beautiful, blue sky, spring-like day?

MET OFFICE = FAIL!

6 inches is enough to freak out about over there?

Aye, mubby, if you're a soft southern shandy drinking poof (ie anyone below Hadrian's wall, except geordies).
It's OK, Jim. We won't tell anyone that you had a little cry when that wee frosting of snow on your booties made your toesie-woesies all horrid and cold.

Your secret is safe with us. Hang in there, big fella.

:D

Less of yer pish. I've been going out for fags in a string vest all morning. Not even a stiff nip!

:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

You know what? I believe you.

There's still snow here in North Yorkshire, but it's starting to turn a bit brown and slushy in parts. It's my day off today anyway, so I'm at home doing frak all as usual. Though I'm about to venture out in a minute to get my hair cut

Those newspaper headlines were a laugh, reminds me why I don't read them. Headlines- "It snowed yesterday!" erm, yeah, I saw it mate. I don't need a newspaper to tell me that. Waste of fucking paper
And "oooh its the worst snow in 18 years" well that's only 1991, which doesn't sound that long ago at all. If it had been 200 years then it might be of interest, otherwise I couldn't give a hoot and it's just more non-news

Ehh, feck off ya northern bastard, I'm in work, have been since half 8, no snow day for me. :p:lol:
In fact, snows mostly cleared outside. And I remembered to wear boots today isntead of no-grip trainers I was wearing yesterday. Got pretty familiar with a lampost on my way home.

we had more snow this evening after a load of yesterday's had melted. i got home from work, walked down the path, bloody three feet from the front door and i fell on some ice and hurt my wrist. FUCK!

Well, the rail website says my trains should be OK in the morning. Whatever happens I plan on going to work by whatever means are necessary. Except walking there, as that'd take me all day. :p

Well, I did go to the pub, and can confirm that walking in compacted snow after 5 pints is not a good idea.
I hope you remembered to eat something as well. It's never good to brave the elements on an empty stomach.

I went to the pub for lunch, so I did eat. I met my Sister there - she wanted to get out of the house because daytime TV was driving her up the wall... :D

My little sister is a bad influence on me.

No snow today, bright sunshine and really a lovely brisk day.

They say round two of the snow is due later this week, but then again, they said it was going to snow overnight last night, so....

Best news of all - I went for a walk and noticed the first snowdrops pushing their way up and just about to flower. The spell is broken, winter is ending! ;)

Now all we need is Aslan to return, the Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve to take their place in history, and the reign of the Ice Queen to finally come to an end! (Sorry, Jadzia. ;))

Getting someone else to prepare your meal is never a bad thing. And after lunch, your sister was probably happier with daytime TV. Or she took a nap.

It's never difficult to be a bad influence when you're in a pub and the conditions outside are daunting.

A russian saying comes to mind:

"The Church is near, but the road is icy. The bar is far, but I shall walk carefully"

The roads might be frozen over outside, but in my office some idiot has set the AC units to continuous heat and locked out the controls.
