Uhura vs new Uhura

Ummmm, with all due respects to Nichelle, I think this new Uhura is very sexy indeed. A product of her time, for sure. Slinky and sexy. But I have seen several pictures of her on the web now and...well...I like!!!

She's OK, mate. But I still have a burning desire for the original! Nichelle Nichols, Barbara Eden, and Yvonne Craig were my first TV crushes, BTW! -- RR

Why does it have to be Uhura vs. Uhura? Can't I have both at the same time?

Both are extremely gorgeous women.

Let me steer this a bit awry...

How many think that Zoe Saldano's Uhura will get more lines and character development in this one film than Nichols' did in the entire run of the original series?

I think you are right about that. As innovative as it was to show a racially integrated crew way back in the 1960's, Uhura still kinda got marginalized, and basically was just kept in the background in almost all the episodes. She should (and probably will) have tons of lines and dialogue in the new film. And she's very hot...

More lines and character development in the entire film vs the entire TV series? No, I don't think so. But, the two hours of the film vs any given two hours (episodes) of the TV series? I think that's a possibility.

Not I. I'll bet there isn't a single reference to her African origin.

Why not? Problem? As to the question, it might be a safer bet if this movie is a success and they reveal more about the characters, bit by bit, if the go a more ensemble route -- which I'm not sure they will. -- RR

Agreed and I hope you're right. -- RR
