UFO episode reviews... [spoilers]

As for 'The Computer Affair', I didn't like it as much when I first watched it (I got the box set a couple of years ago, never saw the show before then), but could never figure out why until now. I always felt that it hurt the characters of Ellis and Bradley coming so early in the run. Maybe if it had been shown a bit later, than than the 2nd ep, it would've come off better.

Given the arguments over the ordering of eps, maybe it was intended to come later in the series. Iirc Lt Ellis eventually disapeares and to have The Computer Affair later in the series it would give rise to her depature.

Just couldn't resist. Cross your eyes ...

That's awesome.

Ptrope = win.

Note: comments in Marc's post above by cylkoth, not me.

Can't get the crosseyed thing to work, but then I can't do those stupid 3d pic things either. Mut be because I wear glasses or something.

I have a problem with some of those 3D pix, too, but those require you to relax your eyes and simply look forward with each eye - which is tough to do! This picture is, I think much easier to see - and I wear glasses, too! - because all you have to do is cross your eyes until the two pix overlap in the middle. I suppose some people can do it and some can't :(.

I don't get it. What is supposed to happen? I cross my eyes at that and I see nothing unusual.
Cross your eyes until the images "double" and continue to refocus until the double of the one on the left and the double of the one on the right meet in the middle.

So you end up with focus on the "middle image" and there's an image on either side, but ignore them.

The middle image is in 3d.

It helps if you are exactly in front of the screen and the pictures are lined up exactly in front of each eye, so try moving forward or back.

It took me a while to find the right ammount of eye-crossing to use (it's only a small ammount, really), but once I got it, it became easier to get again. The 3D effect is subtle, but it's there!

Just to see the resemblance :
Neal McDonaugh (with Straker-wig) - Ed Bishop
Michael Shanks - Michael Billington

The resemblance is uncanny, in both cases. Yeah, I could buy Shanks as Foster.

OTOH, I just finished reading the UFO-2 Series Proposal, which is really very well thought out and believable for the present time. It's a good presentation, and I can't help but wonder why this didn't actually get picked up and put into production. I liked the fact that it was a continuation of the original and that Ed Bishop was apparently interested in reprising his role as Straker.

That IS uncanny... and according to the UFO wiki entry ITV got cold feet when the initially-promising US ratings began to fade... :(

btw, where did you read that proposal?

...and the 3D Ellis doesn't work for me either. :(

It would be difficult for Bishop to reprise his role as Straker. He died on June 8th in 2005, five days after his co-star Michael Billington.
Let's hope if UFO ever gets remade, it will be as good (if not better) as the original series.
In a way, I'm kinda surprised it hasn't been remade already. The series was very popular when it came out, and was in some ways as good as Star Trek (albeit a little more serious).
With the computer technology of present day, this series has a lot of potential, and we can only hope some TV bigshots will realize that.

I'm not a big fan of Shanks - he was okay when he started SG1, but after his departure and return, he struck me as a prima donna, even onscreen.

Here's a comparo of my choice, James Purefoy, with Michael Billings. And, hey, he wouldn't have to fake an accent! :bolian:
