U.S.S. Kelvin

So, do we have any information on this ship other than it will be a generation older than the Enterprise, be captained by Captain Robau and have George Kirk as a first officer? Do we know what it will necessarily look like?

Although we don't know if he is talking about the Kelvin or not, Harry Knowles over at Aint It Cool described a ship "from about 25 years before the Enterprise" that he saw in the footage JJ Abrams screened for him a couple of months back:

The next scene was a really nicely completed visual effects pass of a pre-Enterprise Federation ship from about 25 years before the Enterprise. I’ve no idea how this fits into the larger story, same with the Spock baby stuff. But this effects shot had a completely different space feel than anything I’ve seen before from STAR TREK or STAR WARS. The shot began on a small part of the ship, then craned back and over to reveal the ship coming into a larger shot of the ship seemingly orbiting a really angry sun. The shot was absolutely dynamic as the star was seemingly raging – and we cut to the interior of the ship – it was very shadowy and very much like that of an old diesel submarine – JJ told me that the look was an evolving look for Star Fleet – so that you could get a sense of the passage of decades here. Once again though – I didn’t see the end of the scene or really get a sense for what was going on.

I really like the dynamics and tone of this Space shot – very much not like something I’d seen before – although it was Star Trek, because the ship was a saucer, with a nacelle above and below the saucer. It just felt aggressive and frankly… badass

Actually, upon rereading this, I think he meant that he was speculating that we can't assume the name of the ship is the Kelvin, just that that's the rumor as it is now. And by extension we can't assume anything about the ship. But what those rumors do state about this ship that would be called the U.S.S. Kelvin is that it's captained by a guy named Robau, George Kirk serves aboard her, it's about a generation older than the Enterprise, and according to Harry Knowles it looks aggressive with a Constellation-esque design on the outside and what sounds to me like a slightly NX-01 style interior.

I'm speculating, but I think Kirk's dad will die on that ship, giving him angst and motivation to prove himself as a Starfleet officer.
