U.S.S. Augusta

thesovereignman

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
I wanted to make my own constitution style starship, and here it is.

The first picture is my first rendered picture of the ship.
The second is my first idea for a bridge
The third is a closeup of the windows on the saucer
The fourth is a closeup of windows on the neck.
The fifth is my second idea for the bridge, which is based more on the original enterprise

Hmmm... You know, I don't like TOS ships very much. They may be original and very cute, but highly underdetailed (if I may). But If I had to rate this one on that TOS scale, I'd give it something like an 8,5/10. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the rating :) I'm a fan of the designs of tos, but I agree that they are under detailed. I just don't like the swoopy designs of the 24th century. My top 3 trek ships are:

Excelcior
Enterprise-A
Enterprise

Anywho, more progress, more renders. here's a couple more:

Very nice. My top 3 is: Intrepid, Sovereign, Prometheus.

I like the intrepid's moving nacelles, I don't like the sovereign (It just looks bad on screen, in pictures, It looks ok) and I like the prometheus' multivector attack mode, and triangular hull.

In Augusta news, I finished the Shuttle bay (I'm not entirely happy with it, but I'll have to wait till I get my newer comp running to fix it. I'm running with an amazing 312mgs of ram! The new one is 2gigs) (Wings pretty much freezes with this model at this point. I've been working on it on my sister's laptop. Hey, it's named after her, so she better cooperate :P)

I also remade the pilons, with a swoopy version, but I think I like the straight ones better.

I'm also remaking the Impulse engines.

I also started making the bridge interior

I also made a breakaway of the nacelles.

The doors you see behind the bridge module is a large telescope. the big blue thing at the bottom of the saucer will hold scientific monitors.

Still to do: Shuttle craft, escape pod hatches, escape pods, Airlocks. Any more ideas are appricated.

Hmmm... so you're making an interior too? That's nice but you should post a better quality image.
Look here:http://trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=108725

Yes, I know. I've seen the Nicholas, and it was the reason I started on the interior. And in reality, that's about the highest quality image of the bridge there is, to this point. Like I said, I just started it :)

What rendering program do you use (and what 3d program).

I'm using wings3D with PovRay. But the bridge pic is just a screencap, because the computer that the model is on doesn't support povray.

I like this design, although the torpedo launcher is too high for me. It looks like you're more likely to shoot the under side of the primary hull than your intended target.

Holy moly, that planetary sensor on the underside of the saucer can scan an entire solar system! It's huge. Not a bad thing. It's just huge!

I'd make it a little smaller.

Is this a new Trek inspired ship? Size as well?

She's a wee bit smaller than the constitution. The JJPrise would probably make it look tiny, let alone a Galaxy. I had figured that the ship would be primarily a scientific ship, hence the large sensor dome. There's a large telescope, approx. 2 decks high, just behind the bridge module. She has a maximum cruising speed of warp 9 in the old scale, as she's very similar in design to her contemporary the Constitution.

And although she takes some design cues from JJprise, she's intended to be a part of TOS. I just liked the white parts of the JJPrise.

So, what do you guys think about a captain's panel? This would sit facing the back of the bridge, and if need be, the captain would have access to all of the core systems.

And what about the chair design? Any thoughts?
