In GEN Tim Russ played a human lieutenant on the Bridge of the E-B, about the same time he was cast as Tuvok on VOY.

Am I alone in thinking that it would have been good to have had him play the same character (with the officer on the E-B being made Vulcan)? It would have been an interesting connection, and could have been used as the basis of "Flashback" (instead of shoehorning him onto the Excelsior).

NO. WAY. Except for Demora Sulu, the crew of Enterprise-B was insipid and boring.

They could have done without bitchy Janice Rand, but seeing George Takei as Captain Sulu was wonderful, and I'm so glad they did the episode with him!

The whole point of Tuvok forcing his past on the Excelsior into an episode was Flashback(along with DS9's Trials and Tribbleations) was a celebration of the 30th anniversary of Star Trek.

I know that, but they could have based the episode on the Enterprise rather than the Excelsior. Or maybe have gone further back to the Reliant. AS a Vulcan he could have fitted in with any established ship from the Movie Era.

Though I do admit, it was good to see Sulu again (out from under Kirk's shadow).
