I love the new one, but TWOK is still a better movie for me.

I agree with this, and don't hold ST09 in high regard, yet it is, unequivocally, a success. Expect more movies in this mold.
TWOK.
To be fair...it IS the better movie. But XI from this past summer is also a terrific film in its own right and you sorta can't lump them together the same way. For one, the whole altered timeline thing(not to mention an almost totally new cast)makes XI stand in a slightly different category of TREK all by itself. TWOK was an immediate followup and addition to the Prime universe and timeline. Standard canon with a villain beloved in the classic TV series. XI is concocted almost wholly from scratch with a new feel and atmosphere.

I've seen many movies concocted entirely from scratch that have been way better. 
Gimme Star Trek over TWOK anyday..
TWOK is my second-favorite TREK film to date. XI ranks high up there in the pack, but as much as I love it it just doesn't have the sentimental appeal and Prime Universe fanwank draw of KHAN.
ST 09. TWOK is a close second.
To be truthful, you truly can't compare the two films. They were made 27 years apart & filmmaking, not just spfx but, stylistically speaking has changed drastically. Films nowadays move MUCH faster with quicker edits, shorter sequences & simpler writing (although I admit I had to think about how things transpired in the new film...it was a little confusing at first). After seeing STAR TREK, I watched TWOK & was really suprised at just how slow, comparitively speaking, TWOK moved along. STAR TREK was on speed & steroids, whereas TWOK took its' time. TWOK is not my favorite film of the series (that would be TSFS) but, of the first six, production-wise, it is the best. I even liked the unifiorms! (Hey, they were better than the pajamas the cast wore in TMP)
Well, I can compare those two movies.
I think its true to say that it's not.
