I'll give Smallville credit...nine seasons for a fantasy show is quite an accomplishment.
And the longest-running superhero show ever . . . .

Wouldn't that be Power Rangers? Or actually the Japanese franchise it's based on, Super Sentai, which was already 15 years old when Power Rangers began?
It's the Superman curse. Take that role and you are literally known only for that. Where is Brandon Routh anyways?I've begun to think that Welling is keeping on with Smallville because he isn't interested in pursuing much of an acting career after this. Or maybe he's already tried getting some other high profile roles and hasn't been getting many great offers. Maybe it's due to a lack of acting range, typecasting, or a combination thereof.
So maybe he's come to the conclusion that Smallville is his best shot at fame and (most of all) fortune. I think he's pursuing a future in directing, more than anything, as he's already done four Smallville episodes.
Name one movie of his besides S:R that anyone has watched.
In 2033, however, it becomes much less messy. In 2033 Superman and Superboy both enter into the public domain.
No offense to fans of the show, but I really hope it gets canned.
