Ah, fan doomsaying a year in advance!
Yup, this is a Whovian forum on Star Trek board on the internet.

The presence of Tennant and the absence of Clara (I'm blanking on the actress' name) would be the ONLY thing that would induce me to watch this. I gave up on nuWho in Capaldi's second season because I just couldn't stand the moronic, childish stories or the companion who should have died half a dozen times already but there was always some damn GOTCHA! that they'd pull out to keep her around.Ten and Donna are not characters who needed to come back for this specific milestone of the series; if they were going to bring back past characters to help mark the anniversary, they should've picked ones whose presence wouldn't automatically steal the focus away from the Fourteenth Doctor.
* sigh *
I like the ninth series a lot, but I also do think that Claras best exit would have been in Last Christmas. An entirely perfect ending, too.Jenna Coleman played Clara.
I get why you didn't like her and I agree she outstayed her welcome a little too much. I prefer to think she left after "Last Christmas," ending with The Doctor returning to her as an old woman, which was a far better conclusion to her story than what we got.
Actually, I think Coleman is to blame for that one. I believe I read somewhere she said she was going to leave but then changed her mind at the last second.I like the ninth series a lot, but I also do think that Claras best exit would have been in Last Christmas. An entirely perfect ending, too.
But, Moffat...
Hmm, but Davis doesn't like multi-Doctor episodes......
Absolutely totally can't stand her or anything she has done. Came close to stopping watching while she was in it.Aw, don't hate on Tate! She was the best Tennant companion!
yeah, but I also read Moffat saying he was hoping she'd come back as he'd sketched out series 9 but he hadn't really put a lot of thought on the companion and she came back it was more useful, or something along those lines.Actually, I think Coleman is to blame for that one. love Tate as Donna. That she and Ten did only one series will always be the source of great sadness for me.Absolutely totally can't stand her or anything she has done. Came close to stopping watching while she was in it.
I'm normally supportive of fellow gingers but I make an exception for her.
Fantastic news! Series four was by far my favorite of the Davies run so it'll be good to see them together again. They've done great work with Big Finish in recent years so, of course, the chemistry is still there.
Well, that's being a bit pedantic. The article says they're filming for the 60th anniversary so unless otherwise stated, it's safe to assume their doing for the 60th anniversary episode.
Pretty vague if you ask me.The pair are currently shooting scenes that are due to air in 2023 to coincide with the show's 60th anniversary celebrations
My reaction is the exact opposite.Disappointment at Tate currently negating excitement at Tennant...
Perhaps so. I'll admit, I missed that particular sentence. I was focused on the lede sentence.Pretty vague if you ask me.

Basically, I kinda wish Moffat had kept that ending for Clara, and the Clara in series 9 could have been one of her splinters that the Doctor picked up and kept her because of his adoration for any version of Clara. But that's just my fanfiction...
Anyway, Tennant and Tate back. Have to say I am a little nervous, and it is a heck of a first day on the job for Gatwa, but I would hope RTD knows what he's doing. It may be that Ten and Donna are only in the episode briefly. They may be mirages from the Doctor's fevered mind as he deals with his recent regeneration.

Now I might be the one who is being pedantic now, but "celebrations" could just be an umbrella term and might not necessarily mean more than one episode/event. Yes, we had tons and tons of stuff for the 50th but I don't think we'll get nearly as much for the 60th.
Like before, I'm just airing on the cautious side.
