Spoilers Two big characters return for anniversary.

Many many years ago, when BBC books still had a slush pile, I started writing a Who story partially set in Camden (a very specific location was the Worlds End pub in fact) simply because if I was a vaguely human alien, it’s absolutely where I would hide. I would have liked to have written Mags from Greatest Show as living there, because part of it involved Ace dealing with her remaining Cheetah Person self, and had the doctor introducing her to community of various ‘hybrid’ people who were basically living on twentieth century earth hiding in our subcultures. Alas, only a little survives somewhere in a document.

In short… Camden is a good place for aliens, and I wouldn’t have assumed those were set dressing xD

Edit: since I am in a waffling mood, I’m involved two time periods and a water based alien intelligence, and in the seventies Unit handled it under cover of IRA bombs being found at the green lanes reservoir. I was amused when I saw The Flood in DWM a few years later.

Interesting piece of set dressing. We know how Russell loves making ordinary things scary. Invasion by stuffed toys?

Could the villain the Celestial Toymaker?

Stuffed animals going for your throat while George Michael's "Last Christmas" plays in the background. Yeah I can see it.

As true as that is, I can also see the argument (and even agree with it) that multi Doctor stories have been done, while the Doctor "reverse regenerating" into a previous incarnation is something new.
It's new on television, and I'll be excited to see it. :)

It happened in Titan Comics -- the tenth Doctor briefly retro regenerates into the ninth during a storyline.

Paraphrasing something I saw on Gallifrey Base - the arguments over numbering the Doctors based on the Timeless Child, the War Doctor, Tennant's almost-regeneration, the rumored degeneration from Whittaker to Tennant, etc - are largely an exercise for us mega-fans. If you go to pub trivia, the answer to "Who is the first Doctor Who?" is going to be William Hartnell and "Who is the fourteenth Doctor Who?" is going to be Ncuti Gatwa.

That would be cool. I've always thought the Celestial Toymaker has a lot of potential that the show has never followed up on (he was going to return in The Sixth Doctor's second season but was dumped for Trial).

Big Finish has done some cool stories with him, including adapting the aforementioned Sixth Doctor script (or idea, I don't remember how far the original process got).

The Nightmare Fair made it to script. It was adapted to audio first as a fan audio circa 2002, and Big Finish later did an official adaptation of it. Some of the later stories of that cancelled season weren't much past ideas, and some of it was just voices in Ian Levine's head.

Thanks for the assist. I was pretty sure most of that canceled season was at some of level of script but I also knew some of the Lost Stories Big Finish has done were merely outlines or just germs of ideas. My poor memory couldn't remember what was the specific case for The Nightmare Fair.

Either way, there's great potential for the Celestial Toymaker and I hope he returns in the main series, even if not in this special (which, unfortunately, is probably the case).

Killer toys could also mean Autons. Wouldn't put it past RTD to reuse the same villain as his debut ep if he's bringing in a new Rose.

Ep title might be Rose (Part 2) ;)

Different TARDIS, different clothes, different Sonic. It's hard to argue that's not 14 instead of 10* but some people still do.

They're shooting on one of Wembley Stadium's car parks tonight, so no photos, but given Russell's penchant for destroying London landmarks what are the odds a spaceship is going to crash into the pitch? (It would match up with some of the dialogue heard earlier in the week as well.)

*Though of course 10 is really 11 and 12 which would make him 16.

You say that, but I was a bit annoyed at a pub quiz (actually a church quiz but same difference and bigger room) when they were more pedantic than me and wanted Robert April for first captain of enterprise.
But they were my godmothers, and completely fudged with all the manly men who played their wild cards for double points on the sports questions, by asking about dressage and womens events in the Victorian era or some such, rather than football rugby and cricket.
Happy days.

It's probably just the lack of detail, but in the first photo, the screwdriver looks a lot like if you took the bottom half of Twelve's and attached it to the body of Nine/Ten's. I'm assuming the second photo is the opposite end, but that doesn't look like anything I remember seeing (though the part where the Nine/Ten center meets the new metal part almost looks like some of the gold bits on River's version).
