TV shows not available on DVD

I thought Sliders and Seaquest were available? It's not totally sf, but the weird western anthology Dead Man's Gun isn't on dvd. I've got it on my dvr to vhs.

I'm glad that at least the first 33 episodes of X-Men are being released, but the fact that Gargoyles Season 2 Volume 2 and Journeyman are nowhere to be seen violently upsets me.

Problems like these are the reason I regularly record and keep shows when they initially air. No Journeyman on DVD? No problem. I have it. Every episode is now preserved on one of my hard drives as well as on my shelf in DVD. Even used photoshop and made a cover for it.

I was recently going through some old VHS tapes and came across the campy reunion movie The Return of the Six Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman that originally aired in 1987. It was still in great shape. So I used my DV bridge and transferred it to my hard drive as well as DVD and .m4v for iPods, after editing out the commercials. Although, seeing 22 year old commercials were pretty funny. I even kept one. An early rap music based Burger King commercial that had Cuba Gooding Jr., before he was famous, wearing a ridiculous outfit and a parrot on his right shoulder!

Needless to say, I love having over 3TB of storage space. Although I will be needing to expand that pretty soon. I am down to around 150GB of free space.

The surprising lack of TV shows on DVD is mainly because of the greed and lack of common sense shown by these media companies, the only way to get many of their "products" properly is through piracy. And I firmly believe media royalities have been grotesquely inflated beyond reasonable sustainabilty. While I do not endorse media piracy (sometimes poor products and occasionally connections to organized crime syndicates) the media companies have nobody to blame but themselves for painting themselves into a corner with prehistoric copyright laws while the digital hegemony is moving the goal posts further up the field by the hour. They better embrace the digital singularity, before they get roughly pushed into it...

I wouldn't mind seeing "Legend" again...as Rick Berman marries Q with McGuyver in the wild west. Now THAT was a fun season. :techman:

I am STILL waiting for Paramount's 1993 series "The Untouchables."

It had first-rate actors, entertaining stories, great period costumes and cars and Tommy-guns, plus a fantastic musical score by Joel Goldsmith.

It was only on for a year and a half, but it wrapped up its story by the final episode, and it would make a perfect DVD box set (unlike many canceled series that end with a cliffhanger).

Come on, CBS/Paramount! It's been 15 years! Either release "The Untouchables" on DVD, or at least show some re-runs on one of the 800 cable channels out there.

I liked that show a lot back when channel 45 used to show reruns on the weekends at something like 2am. It gave me a reason to stay up after Earth: Final Conflict. But the odd thing was that I always found myself rooting for Al Capone & Frank Nitti to win. The good guys were just never that interesting.

what about that Animated "red Planet" miniseries they did back in the mid-90's about the same time X-men TAS came out

If something ain't out on dvd yet I would recommend the studio hold out another year. With the economy in the shit, no matter what dvd they release sales are not heading through the roof. When the economy rebounds in 2010 that's when they should release ColdCase, Jeremiah, Six Million Dollar Man, CharlieJade etc

I'd love to see the original Cupid come out on DVD, with Jeremy Piven in the title role; now that ABC has decided to resurrect the series, I somehow doubt we'll ever see the real version on the shelves, because it will undoubtedly be better than the new one (c'mon, it's Jeremy Piven! No way the new guy is going to beat that!)

^Piven is pretty awesome. I wish I'd watched the original when it was on the air!

I used to love that show! I did love Tom Amandes as Elliot Ness though, but John Forsythe as Capone was just brilliant casting. I'd love to see it on DVD.

I wouldn't mind seeing "The Cape" on dvd. I caught a couple of episodes and just want to check out the rest:)

Because of music rights, The Wonder Years will likely never appear intact. They released a few sampler DVD's about five years ago, but not an entire season.

And yes, the Joe Cocker version of "With a Little Help from My Friends" opening theme had been re-recorded with a similar vocalist and arrangement, but not the original.

Oh, Man! There's sixteen seasons of Power Rangers, and not a box set in sight. The Mouse just won't relent--use Megazord power on him!
There are some cool Fox Kids shows from my youth that I'd like to see immortalized on DVD:
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
Power Rangers Zeo
Power Rangers in Space
If you want them, get a region free DVD player, they are dirt cheap, so "I can't play R2 DVDs" is not an excuse.;)
MMPR Seasons 1 - 3, Zeo and Turbo are already available in Germany with english audio, Power Rangers in Space will be relased on April 3rd. Lost Galaxy and Wild Force have also been confimed as box sets with english audio. Lightspeed Rescue and Time Force have been released with german audio only, but they may rerelease them later.

The first six seasons are the first six results, if you search for Power Rangers in the DVD section on amazon.de

Everything from Ninja Storm to Operation Overdrive has been released in the UK, but all seasons except Operation Overdrive have a few cut episodes (they just used the Jetix UK TV versions for the episodes that weren't available on individual DVDs) and the episode order is screwed up, because they just repackaged the old single releases and slapped the missing episodes onto extra DVDs.
The german releases of these seasons are uncut, but only Ninja Storm and Operation Overdrive have english audio (but the UK set of Overdrive is really good, so that doesn't matter).

That was actually John's son William Forsythe as Capone.

cardinal biggles corrected you before I got a chance to. But he's right.

And you're right that Tom Amandes was a good Elliott Ness. John Rhys-Davies was also brilliant (as always) as Malone. But the other good guys were so undeveloped, they made Travis Mayweather look like friggin Hamlet.

Tom Amandes also put in a great guest appearance in a 7Days 2-parter where he played an American general staging a coup against the U.S. government. Great stuff.

I am surprised nobody mentioned the remaining 37 episodes of 91 of Darkwing Duck. Disney released the second 27 episode set in 2007. Have not heard anything since.

I wouldn't mind seeing that again myself.

Sadly, not reshown over here since it aired on Sky a good many years ago.

I think, I have a number of, if not all of the episodes on VHS at my parents' house from before I left home. One day I'll have to get around to digging them out!

That, and VR5, which I remember recording, and never ever watching!
