TV shows not available on DVD

^^ Charlie Jade's available on Region 2. I picked it up last year for £6 ($9). Bargain.

I'd like Cold Case as well. Surprised that's taking so long. I know there are issues with the music rights, but still, just replace the offending songs. Given the success of the show I'm surprised that they're not being more strenuous in efforts to secure a DVD release.

Jeremiah Season 2.

A good two or three years since the first season was released. Where's the second?

Guess I must be lucky. Besides the above I can't really think of too much that hasn't seen the light of day now. Earth 2, Homicide, Nowhere Man, Space Above & Beyond, The Pretender, all shows that I had to wait for but came out eventually.

I guess First Wave might be another that I'm still waiting for.

Jeremiah is locked up because of JMS's ongoing feud with the studio. He hates them, publicly slammed them and said he'd never have anything else to do with them-which apparently means we fans suffer.

Malcolm in the Middle... I purchases season 1 YEARS ago and nothing has come out since :(

Deathmatch is on dvd, too
also, back on track is Night court, Season 2 is out at last

what pisses me off is incomplete DVD seasons that will never be finished, Picket fences is one.

Nickelodeon's "The Adventures of Pete & Pete" seasons 1 & 2 were released a few years back as part of the "Nick Classics Collection" which was promising also to release "Clarissa Explains it all" "Are you afraid of the dark" "Hey Dude" "Welcome Freshmen" and "Welcome to Wienerville", basically every good show nick came up with, but after the second season release of P&P the company doing the dvd releases was bought and the series shut down with no reason given(GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR) so not only is one of the best and most bizzare (and my favorite) series only half released on DVD, but alot of my favorite shows growing up pretty much confirmed to never be released

The main non-scifi TV shows I care about which are not out/only partially out on DVD are:

L.A. Law - this was a HUGELY popular show in the 80's. Don't know what the hold up is with a DVD release. 3 years ago at the Vegas Trek Con in August, Corbin Bernsen said that L.A. Law would begin release the following October. And here we are, 3.5 years later, and still no L.A. Law.

Falcon Crest - Love this show, which lasted 9 seasons back in the 80's into the early 90's. Have no idea why this one hasn't been released either.

Cold Case - of all the Bruckheimer TV efforts, this is by far my favorite. I know that music rights must be the hold up here - all of that period-specific popular music they use for the episodes will be nearly impossible to get rights to. I mean, good luck with getting rights for the music of Bruce Springsteen, for example. They aired one episode that included ONLY Springsteen music.

Without a Trace - They have only released two seasons of this in the US...and no new seasons have come out in a couple of years. I'm coming close to ordering these from Amazon.uk, where you can get about 3 more seasons, at this point.

Hill Street Blues - only two seasons have been released, and this was a bloomin' LANDMARK series which changed the face of TV. WTF?

Cagney & Lacey - only the first season has been released. And that was about a year ago.

Seasons 5 and 6 of The Bob Newhart Show

I kind of feel like a tool for this one, but I really want Major Dad on DVD.

This is a big one for me. I'm a huge David E Kelley fan, and it'd be nice to have one of his early works.

Sometimes the music rights are a big reason for shows not coming out on dvd. I think that might be the case with Ed. I've been waiting for it for a long time.

I'd love to have Ed as well. I think this is the same reason why we don't have a Region 1 release for Ally McBeal.

I just rewatched the entire series of ReBoot. It isn't likely to go to DVD due to the fact the first two seasons were a joint venture between Mainframe (the production company) and ABC television. The third season, produced for Canada's Y!TV, was available on DVD for a time but was withdrawn.

Only the 4th season, which was created as two fully-assembled movies but aired on CN as 8 episodes, is available on DVD. :(

Rocko's Modern Life: One of my FAVORITE Nickelodeon cartoons!! Some selected episodes are available via iTunes however (Nick Rewind)

Transformers (G1): Rhino DID previously release this and I was able to snatch up a few episodes but it's currently out-of-print/discontinued at the moment and has been for awhile now. Sony Wonder bought the rights to it and a bunch of other animated shows (i.e. GI Joe, Jem) but then folded and then the rights went to somebody else with hints that they may re-release it. It would seem to be good timing to release it this year- to tie in with the new movie.

Charlie Brown & Snoopy Show: Never seen a DVD release yet although some episodes ARE currently available via iTunes. Also, why haven't they released all of the movies? They keep releasing and re-releasing the holiday specials and other Charlie Brown material but they've never released Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (and Don't Come Back!) and my personal favorite, Race For Your Life, Charlie Brown!

Oh, Man! There's sixteen seasons of Power Rangers, and not a box set in sight. The Mouse just won't relent--use Megazord power on him!

Hill Street Blues - only two seasons have been released, and this was a bloomin' LANDMARK series which changed the face of TV. WTF?
Sales are the big killer for most of these sets. As was mentioned upthread, NYPD Blue had its first two seasons released in six-disc boxed sets with fancy packaging that sold for around $60; this was in the waning years of the show. When they didn't sell well, there were no more sets for a year or two, then the third and fourth seasons came out, priced at $40, but with four double-sided discs in those slim-line cases. Even those didn't sell well, probably in part because the show is a.) old news, and b.) no longer in reruns here in the U.S., so there's been nothing since then. Really drives me up the wall, because my two favorite episodes in the whole series are in the fifth season. :(

Anyway, HSB ran into a similar thing; it's been out of the public eye forever, and for whatever reason, people weren't biting. :(

I'd like to see Eight is Enough get released. My 20 year old tapes are wearing out. I may just give in and burn them myself.

I'd also like to see China Beach, but that show being a period piece, the music rights are probably the same hang up as Batman and WKRP.

I'd also like to see Crazy Like a Fox. I have that on tape too, but the quality isn't worth making DVR's out of them.
