TV shows not available on DVD

It's been more than 10 years since DVDs appeared on the market and almost every science fiction or supernatural TV series has been completely released on DVD. There are a few exceptions such as Animorphs, Earth: Final Conflict, The Six Million Dollar Man, Seaquest DSV and Sliders.

The same isn't true for the 'mundane' TV series. There are many shows where less than half of the show's episodes are available on DVD, sometimes only the first season. And there are many shows that are entirely unavaliable on DVD, forcing fans to download them illegally. Even The Simpsons, one of the most popular shows of all time, only has its first 11 seasons on DVD. Happy Days has the first 4 seasons on DVD. Law & Order has the first 8 seasons plus the 14th season on DVD. I don't get it. If a show is so popular that it can last more than 10 years then why can't it get a decent DVD release.

Is it the company's fault or the fans' fault for not buying enough DVDs? Are the fans of mundane shows simply not interested in watching their favorite shows more than once? Are sci-fi fans the only kind of fans that really care?

What do you guys think?

I would like to see, The Six Million Dollar Man, :techman:LA Law and others available on DVD real soon. Currently, two volumes of ;)Love American Style:) are available, but I would like to see the rest of the series available on DVD in the near future. :bolian:

Robocop the series

That one is available in the UK, but it seems normally to be found either as Single episode deals in the bargain bin, or one of 50 or so dvds sold with a player.

If you have a multi-region/pal capable player, Amazon UK seem to have the whole series for £10 (and with the current rate of exchange, now might be the right time)

what about that Animated "red Planet" miniseries they did back in the mid-90's about the same time X-men TAS came out

Sorry, but that was complete caca. Read the original novel instead-it's a lot better, although dated.

There are better animated shows that should be put on DVD:

Invasion America

Brats Of The Lost Nebula

Histerya (SP)

The Zeta Project

Jayce & The Wheeled Warriors

Piarates Of Dark Water

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (orignal show, 1987-1994)

The Simpsons puts out a new season on dvd at least once or twice a year. They can't just put them all out at once. It takes time to do 22 half-hour commentaries.

My wife used to religiously watch Sue Thomas F.B.Eye (or something like that) about a deaf FBI agent (based on a real person apparently) and I thought it seemed like a pretty good show. It's never been released on DVD or for download AFAIK.

Another show that I was curious in, mostly because it had Anne Hathaway on it, was Get Real(?), which AFAIK has never seen a release anywhere.

Get A Life got a couple of single-DVD releases but not a full season. I found it weirdly enjoyable.

MASK (animated series)

turtles is out
Jayce and the wheeled warriors was out, can't find it anywhere, it wasn't distributed verry widely and failed
