Contest: ENTER TV & Media Avatar Contest: Live action adaptations

Showdown

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
This contest will be about live action adaptations of a visual media. SciFi & fantasy are okay.
Animated cartoons, cartoons based on toys, comic books, comic strips, games, video games. I'm going to disallow books and novels.
I will allow the live action movies/TV shows can have CG characters, not looking like hand drawn, as long as there's at least one live person in there. It can be based after the cartoon, a direct adaptation, a sequeal, or prequel.

For example, Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings will not be allowed, even Ralph Bakshi's animated version was made earlier, because Jackson's trilogy is based on the books and not the cartoon. Disney's live action Cinderella is okay because it is partially based after their earlier animated movie.

Rurouni Kenshin

IMO, a very good adaptation, but not going to get any votes, I know.
For those who want to know, here is the premise of the movie...
During the Boshin War in Japan, our hero, Kenshin, join the war to bring back peace. He's a master swordsman and became a cold blooded assassin. He helped bring a swift and decisive win, with mountains of dead that weigh heavly on his soul. Tormented by his past and scarred by war, Kenshin became lost. But with some new friends and a new goal in life, to protect life and fight for the innocent, Kenshin is finding a place in the world. But as old ghosts of war's past return to haunt him, and new enemies arise, a drug cartel/arms dealer, to threaten the people, can he save those closest to him? Can he save his soul or return to being the monster he was?
