TSCC gets a full 2nd season.

With the movie out I can understand why they have done it but FOX would be really stupid to give it a 3rd season though it would be nice to see a network treat fans and give it a 3rd season the same length as the 1st season to fill a gap or something in line ups when other shows get canned normally 2 for FOX before November. Also use them like Jericho to go out with a fucking blast and wrap up much as possible.

No problemo! :rommie: Given the widespread existence of reality TV, it's a given that renewals have no correlation to quality anyway. I always root for the survival of any halfway decent sf/f show regardless of whether I personally like it, because it means more sf/f shows will be premiered next season, and some of those, I might like.

More analysis from TV By The Numbers...

One thing I’ve always believed is that there is some financial enticement to Fox either in the way of cost of episodes, an advertising arrangement or both involving the forthcoming Terminator: Salvation movie scheduled for a May release. It just made sense as a natural promotion opportunity to have TSCC on the air in May. I know some of you will chime in with “but, the movie has nothing to do with the TV show, is made by different people, isn’t made by Fox so Fox won’t care!” Warner Bros is in on the production of TSCC and Warner Brothers Pictures is the US distributor of the Terminator movie this May. While it’s purely speculative on my part and I’m pretty sure we’ll never know, I don’t think it’s nonsensical that Fox could’ve had additional incentives for the pickup.
So T:SCC's ability to avoid the axe could be a one-off that doesn't apply to other shows, but there are several on the wrong side of the cancellation line that I think will also survive: Chuck, Knight Rider and Prison Break.

If those aren't paid downloads, then there must be product placements in the show for those to count. That would allow DVR ratings to count as well. What kind of trucks has everyone been driving? ;)

Hulu and Fox.com are ad-supported, not unlike television, but with a better guarantee that the audience will stick around for the ads (given the 30-60 second commercial breaks). The first two weeks or so of online viewing are also royalty-free for the networks under the most recently negotiated talent contracts.

Truly freakish of FOX.

Perhaps with the new film coming out in May, though, they felt they could see some sort of symbiotic benefit between the two?

Maybe it's the demographics and DVR ratings?

Weird. Just weird. Scary weird.

I actually rather get a third season of 13 episodes. I wish more shows would do 13 episode seasons, if the show is really good you have 26 episodes a year, if not you have 13. Instead of the "fall" shows" and the "summer" shows, of 22 episodes, just break things up to four seasons.

Plus I hope Fox is smart (hahaha) enough to put this with 24 in the Winter. TSCC will only have 31 episodes, they can replay the whole series around the time 24 is on. They can have 24 and TSCC, then Tuesday could be House and Bones. Wednesday have Fridge and Doll House, Thursday have American Idol, then have AI and some gameshow on Fridays.

American Idol is more proof that Fox should go ahead with the 4 seasons of shows at 13 episodes a piece. AI really screws things up and makes it hard to fit shows in. With 4 seasons there aren't big issues. When will people give me a network to run? I'll even run NBC, they have nothing to lose. :)

Yeah you can't avoid the Fox.COM ads. I've tried and it just doesn't work (if you try to skip them it goes into an endless loop).

Except as fall ratings after the strike-induced gap, showed, audiences simply won't return if given that long to forget the show.

As I said earlier I, personally, don't think that they'll be given another season after this one unless the online viewings remain high and ratings improve somewhat. I do think that the end of the football season will have a BIG effect on ratings if it stays on Monday nights. Though the rumor is still floating that they're going to move it to Wednesdays at 9:00 after Bones.

I don't think that's true, I think the problem is that only 5 people in a country of 310 million have a ratings box. Plus the economy is in hell, people work two jobs and such. There are numerous reasons, if they know the show is on at the same time every night for 13 weeks there won't be a problem. Plus then you can show the repeats right in a row leading up to the new season.

This is out of the norm for FOX, but the shock is lessened when one realizes they clearly are hoping to capitalize on a Christian Bale led T:4 Salvation.

Frankly at this point I would fully expect that the writes will begin to tie their offshoot chronology back into T4 in any way they can. The shows survival will depend on it for any season 3. Because its become apparant that with 6million viewers the concept is too niche and disconnected from what is known for TSCC to stand on its own in a pocked universe.

That could be a problem since Bones is due to be moved to friday nights for at least most of the back 11 episode. Any 8pm slot will not suite the show it needs a come out of a strong lead out which rules out Monday Nights since 24, is at 9pm but rumors have it that Dollhouse is in seriosu trouble so expect FOX to possible move it to fridays let it runs a few episodes and cancel it like FIREFLY.

I would rather have the show to be cancelled though, if this would mean that their own plot would be compromised because they have to follow whatever happens in T4 and beyond (and don't those movies follow T3's timeline, which TSCC also ignores?). Tie-ins when possible, fine. But I don't want their hands to be tied by what goes on with the movies, they should follow their own creative vision.

Terminator 4 is being treated differently. Aspects of the storyline are going to be followed, but the writers were specifically told that what came before was merely backstory and they don't have to strictly adhere to it. The only things from T3 that are confirmed to be continued are Judgment Day happened and Kate Brewster and John Connor are married.

Well, it's a pretty liberal sense of Marriage isn't it? What with no state to solidify the ritual, and no certainty about the authority of the so called religious celebrant on the other side of the radio transmission...

Well needs must as atomic death rains down from the heavens. If they say they're married, then who's going to question it? Would anyone care? Does it even matter?

People were getting married long before the days of churches, registry offices and wedding cake. In fact in some countries people still do and the only validity a marrage needs is the word of the two (or more) spouses and possibly the approval and blessing of the community.
In short, ink on paper do not a marrage make.

Plus several of the militias and military groups do join the human resistance under Connor's leadership. One of the COs may have married them.
