I liked her in the standard duty uniform, but i also liked her in green dress(or was it blue?).

This is such a good question! For years I thought she had a blue and a green dress (not including the off the shoulder number she uses to flirt with Reg Barclay). I've soured the screencaps at Trekcore and I can't find anything other than the dress looking blue. Maybe it's one of those fabrics that looks different under different lights and on different screens? Or maybe I am just having a giant mis-remember.
Never saw her in green on the show. A TV with its color slightly off might make it look green.
Although it seems a lot of people are slightly colorblind and don't know it. Many times I've seen people mistake a similar shade of blue for green.

I've had a damascene conversion. Ever since joined here recently, been raggin' on Troi (and Crusher). With good reason, I believed. Crap actresses, I thought. But after watching season 6 of TNG, and now third of way through season 7, suddenly like her. But can't understand why. I think Chain of Command, when Jellicoe got her in uniform was a pivotal point. Maybe it 'liberated' Sirtis; allowed her to be more expressive. Realistically, think she'd finally settled into character and accent by this point. And possibly had better stories/writers. But, hate to be so superficial, she also physically LOOKS better in season 6/7. More attractive. And a better actress. I shall now view her through new eyes and go revisit those late season VOY eps...

I loved her light purple outfit, she had 2 similar ones, the light purple shade and the maroon/reddish shade - same style just different colours. But I think when she changed into the standard starfleet uniform like everyone else in Chain of Command I think her character was given more to do, taken more seriously etc. Marina Sirtis herself has said the same, and that "cleavage and brains don't mix in hollywood" so I think it was definitely a positive step for the character

The dress in question is actually more green than blue - I saw it in real life at a ST exhibition in London a number of years ago - The thing that struck me was just how tiny this dress was. anyway you can also make a comparison in the episode "Night Terrors" as in one scene Troi is wearing the dress and sat next to Crusher who is obviously wearing blue, and you can see its more of a green shade. It is one of those dresses though depending on lighting etc it can sometime look more blueish and then more greenish all in the same episode.

This is going to come out of leftfield, but it's a nitpick I have when I see starfleet women in standard duty uniforms with their hairdown all over everywhere; and the only reason it bothers me is because I served in todays U.S. military and women are required to have their hair up and off their collars.

I guess Starfleet is lax on their regs about that, but... weirds me out. And yes, I get Starfleet isn't exactly military, but still... they're in uniform. Same with Uhura's hoop earrings in TOS. In an emergency situation, you don't want your hair in your face or your giant hoop earring snagged by something. Just pet peeve of mine.

Anyway, sorry... not trying to derail the thread. Just needed to get that off my chest.

Hairspray of THE FUTURE coupled with force-field technology keep such hair-in-the-eyes emergencies from being commonplace :)

As for Troi, gotta be the Teal/Green Dress
