Trivial Stuff They Don't Have On the Destiny Which Would Be A Problem

Re: Trivial Stuff They Don't Have On the Destiny Which Would Be A Prob

On that note, and slightly back on topic: paper to write stuff on. Young has already been shown several times managing paperwork. What happens when they run out of notepads and lined paper? What do they write stuff on to remember? Will they count on the kinos?

Papyrus or actually making paper with wood pulp. I'm sure one of the scientist guys would know exactly how to make it. They need some sort of soapy solution with the wood fibers and then cutouts to dry them in. They don't seem to have anything to chop up trees well though.

Nobody's mentioned toilet paper yet?

It was one of the first things. However when I go back to the Philippines that is one of the things I go without. Generally only the rich and the tourist hotels use TP. You can go to the markets and see the small size of the rolls compared to the American product. They believe there way is cleaner then wiping with a small sheet of paper and wonder why we don't wash properlly afterwards.

Ah, tabo!

So you use your hand and a pail to wash the crap off your ass and then you wash your hands? What if there is inadequate soap for your hands?

After watching Life another thing which I'm actually surprised they have: exercise clothes. We see everyone working out wearing t-shirts, shorts, and sneakers. So, were these priority items that were in the Icarus base gateroom in case of evacuation?

Of course. They were packed in the same boxes that had ipod docks and razors. ;) :p

Well to be fair why would emergency packs for evacuation be in the gateroom. You don't just dial just at random the address might have a buried gate. Wouldn't the emergency locations, the Alpha sites be stocked?

It just happened that Dr. Smith, I mean Rush made them Lost in Space.

Well, they were sitting on a giant bomb of a planet. It's entirely possible they considered that they might not have a lot of time to get through to the nine-symbol address once they hit a connection, for whatever reason, and they were going to make their first attempt that morning, so they had a bunch of stuff near the gate-room. They probably had a load-out comparable to the Atlantis Expedition prepped, but due to the circumstances, only got a small, more or less random portion of it.

I know this retired USN CPO he says that the people like to blame bad water on the many health problems, but that's not actually it:lol:

I admit I wasn't really watching yet. So they were not going with a 4 man team SG-1 style?

Honestly, I'm not 100% sure on that, myself. Maybe I'll rewatch it or check the gateworld transcript later. It doesn't really make sense that they'd send a regular SG team, though, given the extraordinary means that were required to dial out, they'd have to know it was even more likely to be a one-way trip than Atlantis was. I don't remember if we were ever introduced to Telford's team or given any indication of how large a recon was planned.

Well I can understand Col Telford stealing some 1st Lt or Captains fighter plane from him. But an entire gate team was away defending the base while many on the base security force and the cook defended the stargate:cardie:. If it was a large team shouldn't at least some of the right people be aboard Destiny?

Re: Trivial Stuff They Don't Have On the Destiny Which Would Be A Prob

My memory is a bit foggy, but I'm pretty sure that during the first attempt to dial nine chevrons, we only see Telford and three other guys in the gateroom geared up and waiting for the connection.

Re: Trivial Stuff They Don't Have On the Destiny Which Would Be A Prob

That seems odd. Just four guys would be a suicide mission even if the address went to the planet of gumdrops and steak. Though I guess they could've been counting on being able to tap the core's power indefinately and just making check-in connections and sending through people and supplies as the need became apparent.

I'm sure they would've sent out a MALP to find out where they gated to and if they should go there.

Re: Trivial Stuff They Don't Have On the Destiny Which Would Be A Prob

According to the transcript, they were going to send in an automated reconnaisance drone first. Analyse the data, and send then an away team. There were a bunch of soldier-types ( a dozen or more) in the background, but I'm not sure if they're just there to watch/for formalities.

They might have been going with a four-man team, but I'm not really sensing this from the show.
