Trip & T'Pol: The Good That They Do

Interesting question Tothebridge I think they're walking afine line when it comes to having a relationship in the Mirrior Universe they'd have to be discret very careful they spy on everyone so Trip can sabotage Reeds spy devices when they want to spend time alone, T'Pol is very manipulative the way she changed Trip memories what i wondre
What will happen in future books when it deals with Trip & T'Pol relationship if he finds out about the bond they share she has to keep hertelepathic abilities a secret or she and all the other Vulcans would be killed. And Empress Hoshi needs them and the others to help stay in power that suprise ending Glass Empires leaves you with so many questions. what will happen now that Hoshi brought Archer back from what ever suspended animatio they used on him.

^^Nice pics, HR!

BTW, I finally got a copy of Strange New Worlds 10 and read your story "The Dream." Excellent work -- I enjoyed it!

And continuing with the screencaps, here're a few from "Demons."

Trip discusses the baby with Phlox and says that his father always wanted a granddaughter. Awwww.... :)
Demons_2_4web.jpg

Trip and T'Pol listen intently before volunteering to go "undercover" at the Orpheus mining colony.
Demons_1_4web.jpg

Upon arriving at the mining facility Trip and T'Pol decide to explore but find themselves direction-challenged.

Trip comments that this is the second time they've been through this area and questions the possible accuracy of the map as well as T'Pol's map reading ability.
Demons_3_4web.jpg

T'Pol (a bit miffed) says that maybe they could ask for directions.
Demons_5_4web.jpg

But Trip takes matters into his own hands, "Give me that."
Demons_6_4web.jpg

He takes a few steps forward,
Demons_7_4web.jpg

Glances around, and as T'Pol looks on, says that he thinks he knows what the problem is...
Demons_8_4web.jpg

"We're lost."
Demons_9_4web.jpg

As they continue to explore, T'Pol says that she knows Trip's not convinced she told him the truth about the baby. (OK, I still find this element of the story -- re: Trip's supposed doubts -- confusing.)
Demons_11_4web.jpg

Trip says that he never said that, asks if she's been talking to Phlox, and finally realizes that T'Pol's been picking up on his uncertainties through the bond. They both express irritation with the bond, and
Demons_12_4web.jpg

As Trip starts to tell T'Pol that for the last time he does believe her, the conversation is interrupted by discovery of the area they had been searching for....
Demons_13_4web.jpg

Later, their undercover efforts go awry, and they wind up in the clutches of Paxton.
Demons_14_4web.jpg

Makes a nice "standing together" picture, though. :)

Thank you! :)

Love the "Demons" pics. T'Pol has this long-suffering look that is just priceless. The MU eps were fun, and I enjoyed all the TOS vibes, but this scene from "Demons" makes me wish (again) that we'd had more time to watch Trip and T'Pol getting used to being inside each other's heads. There would have been wonderful discoveries, yes, but also some, er, prickly moments like this one, where they just bugged each other.

And I agree about Trip having doubts about the baby... it seemed a contrived :wtf: rather than a credible uncertainty that he would have about her. They addressed it up front in T'Pol's quarters; that was enough for me.

I think it would make sense for Trip to have doubts at first that the baby was his and T'Pol's it was quite a shock to both him and T'Pol. That discussion in her quarters the bond she had with the Elizabeth she knew it was true. I wish they'd done more explanation of the bond with them as a couple and their baby.TTB great pictures from that scene where they were lost and arguing like a married couple. :p

I love the "directions" scene in the tunnels. It's such a domestic moment. I too was dubious about the doubts Trip had about T'Pol's honesty, but it wasn't with the scene in the tunnels as much as his voiced accusations with Phlox. Even the most trusting and loving relationships have its moments of doubt. They might even be subconscious, which isn't a totally horrible thing...you can't help it. Having someone able to "read" or sense those thoughts though can be aggrevating. I think what T'Pol is really picking up on is that little, contrary voice that pipes up even when we don't want it to and Trip can't help that. And maybe, just maybe that moment in medical was due to the stress and shock of finding out he's a daddy, but that would be stretching it a great deal since this really isn't the first time they've run into this situation. Personally, I was just a little bit turned off by the fact that we had another TnT baby scenario (all without being the result of the birds and the bees between our own TnT couple) so soon after the last one. Of course all the shippy love made it worthwhile and these two storylines are one of my absolute favorites. Just would have made the surprise more believeable if it had the luxury of being spread further apart.

Anyone else thought that Trip was trying hard to impress in the Northstar scene? I love that little glance back he gives at T'Pol...like he's embarassed to be shown up in front of his girl. :)

I just joined this board today, and read all 10 pages in one afternoon *collapses*

I think I need some of SONOTDEADTrip's mouth-to-mouth ;)

Feels nice to be at home in the middle of some T/T shippers, and to read such great discussion on all of it. I don't know if I can add anything much that hasn't already been said, but I just finished TGTMD today and lovveddd ittttt

(p.s. thank you all for the tasty caps!)

Wow!! and

Why thank ya!

Back to the topic at hand: what are the thoughts on what could have been-- should the seasons have continued--regarding Trip and T'Pol's personalities becoming similar? I know lots of couples tend to pick up their partners' quirks, but in Trip's case, would this include emotional restraint or more logical thinking patterns? :vulcan:

Trip showed potential for masking his emotions while in the guise of a Romulan.

Welcome, Pensive! Sounds like you're gonna fit in just fine here.

Considering they were bonded, it seems to me that it would be quite logical :) for them to start picking up on each other's personal and cultural habits, and elements of their personalities, even unconsciously. There seemed to be signs of it in Season 4, where Trip would be playing the role of the "stoic" while T'Pol was the "emotional"-- in "The Augments," for instance.

If there had been subsequent seasons with T/T in an established relationship, I think Trip would certainly have been an outlet for T'Pol's emotions (if only in private), as old T'Pol told T'Pol in "E2". And T'Pol might have taught Trip the benefits of meditation and emotional restraint in certain situations. Stuff like that.

we see trip being stoic though annoyed back in shuttle pod one.
we see it again in the scene with him and malcolm in the expanse episode.
trip gives the impression of being open while really being hidden with a lot of his emotions.
we see it again during silent enemy and we see that archer is familar with it as jon tries to find out why trip hid in his quaters and didnt show up for dinner.

Welcome Pensive. :) I think it's pretty impressive that you actually read through the thread in one afternoon!

Thanks for the "Demons" pics tothebridge. I love the ones from the "directions" scene. I like the lighting and the costumes ect, but their expressions and the dialogue is fun as well. :)

Welcome Pensive. It's really is impresive you read all 10 pages in a day. Trip & T'Pol are wonderful characters. That are alot of like in so many ways. And their differences as well make them so fascinating to watch. :)

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I wanted to make sure I was properly caught up and abreast of the thread-direction before I posted anything that would be possibly redundant.

@HopefulRomantic: Awesome caps! Good point bringing Old-T'Pol up -- Trip definitely would have been a great outlet for her.

I feel a plot bunny nipping at my toes...T'Pol teaching Trip the finer points of meditation:

T'POL: Now close your eyes and clear your mind, let the day's events float away from you.
TRIP: *takes a breath, pauses for only a second or two* ...how long is this supposed to take?
T'POL: Meditation is a process that can take many months or years to master. Patience is crucial.
TRIP: My momma always said patience was not one of m'virtues...
T'POL: Try to concentrate.
TRIP: *fidgets*

Lordy, that's never stopped anybody around here.

I mod at other boards, maybe it's that "read the fucking threads before you post" part of me

...and if you want a vignette or ficlet or something, I will crank that sucker out as soon as I can rest up! Unlike Cmdr. Tucker, I can't stay up all night tweaking fic like he tweaks engines

I just wanted to pop in and say T&T are meant for each other and in my AU TATV did not happen or was just a dream either way T&T are married and have children in my AU

Hi there, Pensive. Welcome to the TnT thread! We love Trip, we love T'Pol, and we love them even more when they're together. :D

Oh, and we do not stop plot bunnies here. We encourage them. Plot bunnies rock, you know?

Any fics developed along these lines?

1. T'Pol perfecting the Valandrian Circle's theories in order to bring her man back

2. Old T'Pol and Trip seeing each other on E2

Also, I've been renting Enteprise through Netflix just for the bonus materials and I'm really surprised (pleasantly) at how much info they give on the TnT relationship. It seems that almost everyone involved really liked the story arc. I especially loved hearing how Lorian got his name and T'Pol's underlying reason for turning to Trellium. Very shippy.
