I've always loved the Romeo and Juliet references to these two. Star crossed lovers indeed...tragic (though in our case crappy as well) ending and all.

Tonight had one of my least favorite episodes: Precious Cargo. Not that I object to seeing Trip with someone other than T'Pol...actually I sorta do...but mostly because the actress that plays the Princess is not very good. I almost grit my teeth everytime she speaks. Btw, what kind of birth control do you think they have in the future? I've noticed a lot of "expressive relationships" in all of the Trek series and was always curious about this aspect. Wonder if there will be a little Trip Monarch on the throne in twoenty or so years.

Question about the Catwalk episode: why if the senior officers were sleeping in the makeshift "bridge" did Trip have to sleep with the rest of the crewman and only Archer and T'Pol were allowed some semblence of privacy? Does this fall under the "we're still trying to put T'Pol with Archer" category? And why, even after the writers decided to go with a TnT pairing instead of a TnA one, does it seem like T'Pol is more greatly affected by Archer being in harm's way than Trip? Is it the way it's written or just the way JB plays it? Or am I just being paranoid?

Lastly (for now), what exactly are the symptoms of PaNaar syndrom anyways? I rewatched the ep tonight to get a better idea but I must keep FF through that part because while I know it's a stigma and was caused by the mind meld, I still don't know what it does. Is it life threatening, crippling, or drives the victim mad? And, as with the Trellium addiction, has this been used as motive for the TnT relationship?

Now see, that's something that has been bugging me as well. We have Trip/princess in this ep, then later, Malcolm/engineer in "Cogenitor." Do the guys assume that they are not compatible with most other species? To that point the human/Vulcan pairing is still said to be incompatible.

...or do Starfleet uniforms have a condom handy in one of those zipup pockets?

Apparently in the 24th century they have shots for both men and women. When Sisko got Yates preggers they mentioned forgetting to take their monthy injections.

Probably. I'd elaborate further, but they have rules against that here. Otherwise I'll just say that as CO and XO they just took the privilege that their rank gave them.

And why, even after the writers decided to go with a TnT pairing instead of a TnA one, does it seem like T'Pol is more greatly affected by Archer being in harm's way than Trip?
Because the writers made her into Sidekick Polly, which also had a way of making her lose IQ points.

Lastly (for now), what exactly are the symptoms of PaNaar syndrom anyways?
Probably about the same as her Trellium addiction.

there was a scene in catwalk were trip was asked to be with jon and tpol but he decided to be with his people and also to keep an eye on the aliens.
also in catwalk notice how tpol is coming up with illogical reasons why the systems are coming on in engineering.
tpol knew that if it was anything more then a sensor glitch trip would have to go and check it out.

oh and odd note. that is tpols quaters that trip goes into to use the computer to spy on the aliens.

I enjoyed the scene in Cat walk where Trip's unhappy about the aliens trying to cook their dinner on that hot conduit. I also like the fact T'Pol seemed to understand his frustratiion. And I enjoyed the movie night scene where we see T'Pol watching the movie with the crew and overhears the conversation with Trip & Malcolm. She certaily seems suprised he invited her to movie night. A fun scene.

Another way to look at T'Pol's reaction is...concern for her friend and commanding officer. I know a lot of folks will be quick to disagree with me, and that's fine. The line forms to the left; no jostling, please. ;)

I've always put Archer and T'Pol in the same category as Kirk and Spock-- CO and XO who, over time, became close trusted friends. Also, I remember that TOS established Vulcans as having a strong sense of loyalty toward their commanders, so maybe somebody had that in mind, too. And I came to Enterprise late, so I got the chance to watch those first 3 seasons without having heard about any character pairings or controversy.

Lastly (for now), what exactly are the symptoms of PaNaar syndrom anyways? The definition of the disease, from Stigma:

It's an incurable degradation of the synaptic pathways. It also affects the endocrine and immune systems.

It is referred to in conversation as "a serious illness" and "potentially fatal." There are references to symptoms that have progressed, but Phlox never lists the symptoms themselves. The only specific symptom I found was in the first scene:

Phlox: Your neurolytic enzymes are considerably higher than last month.
T'Pol: The treatment's no longer effective?
Phlox: I told you it was just a matter of time before we'd need supplemental medications.

I don't remember any reference to Pa'nar sufferers going mad or being crippled.

The writers may have been deliberately vague about Pa'nar because the story doesn't seem to be about the specific disease, but about the stigma surrounding it, and the persecution of its victims.

And, as with the Trellium addiction, has this been used as motive for the TnT relationship?
I don't recall Pa'nar being a catalyst for T/T.

Now I don't have to have people quote me when I enter the av contest and post screencapsYAYE :bolian:

Well, I don't know where else to post this, so I'll put it here: T'Pol's robe from Harbinger is up on eBay. And the winner won't have to make payments until 2008!

And just think, you could probably go doen to JC Penny or another store like that and get one just like that for $30-$40...

"See these shoes with sequins sewn all over them? They look just like the ones Dorothy wore in "The Wizard of Oz."

vs

"These are one of the pairs of Ruby Slippers that Judy Garland wore and danced in for "The Wizard of Oz."

To some people, there is a huge difference. To others, none at all. :)

I've seen Hollywood props and costumes up close. There's a kind of magic to them for me, if I've seen the same things onscreen. If I had my pick, I'd take the real T'Pol's robe. If I could have gone to that Christie's auction, you couldn't have dragged me outta there.

Except it'll probably be some creep that buys it because Jolene Blalock was naked in it. Kind of like that guy that bought CT's undies and then wore them to that convention.
