Trip Eating...Make It Stop.

I'm rewatching Enterprise season 3 (my favorite). I'm reminded how much I can't stand hearing Trip eat, chew, or talk while eating. Anyone else bothered by this? It's usually not something that matters to me on TV shows, but they made sure to include all of those gross eating-while-talking sounds in the final cut. Ugggggghhhhh.

Yeah I get it. The guy is a noisy eater. I hate noisy eaters in real life as well, especially people who smack their lips or chew with their mouth open like trip does. I also hate when he says cap'n. Trip Tucker is not good for my misophonia. Good thing he is easy on the eye.

It's good that Trip is open-minded and not overly fussy. There are plenty of cultures right here on Earth in which it's okay to make noise while eating, and talking while eating is no big deal, either. Stuffy Victorian-era Anglo etiquette is not the be-all, end-all, defining standard for all of humanity.

Bahaha! I love you all.

Well, I'm glad at least one person relates. And same on "cap'n." *Cringes.* The fact that he's "easy on the eye" does zero for me, so I'm sure that's playing into it.

No one said it was, it's purely a sound issue for me and I assume the OP. For me listening to a noisy eater or lip smacking is akin to nails on a blackboard.

Oh no. I'm watching Enterprise for the first time...in the middle of season 2 now. Your right, he does eat a lot. I hope it doesn't annoy me now that you pointed it out haha.

You might have Misophonia. Nothing they can do for it unfortunately, though once you know you have it you learn coping mechanisms. I don't have it but the Mrs does.

Edit:

But Misophonia is when certain noises makes you rage. Not just find it annoying.

I have to think about Martin Luther's (a commonly attributed and often cited quote) "Why dost thou not belch and fart? Wasn't the food to your liking?" In German "Warum furzet und rülpset ihr nicht? Hat es euch nicht geschmecket? :ack:

I thought always, he makes it, while it is some kind of caricaturing of his redneck back round.

one day, when enterprise get the future cgi treatment (3d anyone?), we can see trip with food stains down the front of his uniform

I didn't realize you all felt so strongly about the way I eat. I sincerely apologize. Going forward, I will eat meals alone. In the catwalk. In one of the nacelles. :nyah:

I never noticed this before watching Enterprise. After seeing this thread, I am sure now that is all I will see when watching Enterprise.

I'd hate to be the one(s) cleaning up the set after he's sprayed it with bits of food and droplets of wine or whatever it was that he drank.
