Good way of looking at it.

I'd say that my head questioned elements of it...but my heart LOVED it.

And when it comes to entertainment, my heart overrules my head by about 5-to-1. I use my head enough during the work day. When I watch Trek...I don't need to be nitpicking and analytical.

It’s a TV show. It’s supposed to be an escape. And I will agree, at the end of the day, my heart was just happy to be experiencing Trek on TV after twelve years. Even if my damned head wasn’t shutting up. :p

There actually wasn't a ton I struggled with, admittedly.

I had real trouble dealing with the Klingon scenes. Couldn't follow that at all. I thought some of the earlier scenes were unnaturally exposition-filled. I thought Burnham leaving the bridge to chat with Sarek was a bit silly.

The rest of it, especially after a rewatch, was really escapist entertainment joy.

It was better the second time through.

But the first time, the first episode seemed dull and lifeless in some places. The second WAS better. There was a lot of technobabble, which I felt was unnecessary to the extent it was there. The Klingons as a culture just didn’t work for me. I am very torn about the subtitling of the Klingon language. The font is just way too BIG but it does make them far more alien then we knew them before. The rest of it was fine.

Oh... And the Sarek katra chat was a little silly. I take it as Burnham’s shock. I mean, you can make the argument that her subconscious is trying to pull her out of it with the whole physical anguish thing Sarek was doing. Her response about leaving her even plays into the thought that maybe she doesn’t believe it’s really happening either. But I think that’s definitely up to interpretation.

If you would like to listen to a bunch of guys spend almost an hour excessively moaning about the new Star Trek series, only to conclude that they should have hired Alec Peters to produce it, then this is the video for you! :cardie:
yhopu're kidding me (and sorry, no I'm not going to look at the thing - but THAT was their conclusion? Jesus.

I was not and am not going to be bother watching but I was curious as to how they ended things. I'm not at all surprised that was their end result.

Welcome to about 80% of Trek fandom, unfortunately.

Honestly, this WASN'T the Trek I wanted either. But I concede that my honest natural reaction was that I was entertained and liked the characters.

So...I'm a fan until otherwise given reason not to be.

It’s not the Trek I wanted but I’m more than willing to give it a chance.

When discussing Midnight's Edge, never forget that they think I and others here secretly work for CBS. Adjust your perceptions accordingly.

After dealing with some negativity from SFI over the last few days. Don't really have the time to watch their videos. After watching the episodes again (and after trek) - I want more.
