Trek's lowest moment

^A viable in-universe explanation for why he didn't is that by the 23rd century, the type of vanity that inspires plastic surgery has all but vanished, and Kirk had no real reference point in his own life to make the connection.

Kirk is certainly aware of plastic surgery -- not for vanity's sake, but to correct disfiguring injuries (he clumsily ad-libs that Spock "caught his head in a mechanical, uh, rice-picker" as a child). If he had said Spock was injured in the war, the scene wouldn't have been nearly as funny.

Plastic surgery is still common in Trek's time. There'd be any number of reasons why it might be used (espionage, for example). I don't see why Kirk wouldn't know about it.

Quality-wise. the nadir for me would be M*r*d**n.

You know. That season three DS9 episode based on Brigadoon. Didn't want to type the full title in case it caused people to have adverse Pavlovian responses.

I see that partially obscured word and my mind throws up Maradona's infamous Hand of God at the World Cup 1986, which is a whole other nadir for me. I'd by far have preferred it you'd just spelled that word out.

My first thoughts were... "Miradorn?"... I remember then but off hand I don't remember who they were or when they appeared

The shot of Carol in her underwear was far from the lowest but was still pretty low, unlike most other titillation attempts she directly tells the other person to not look at her but he and the camera does.

Of course they do. You can't tell the joke without setting it up.

Three words:

Quark in drag.

The true winner. I still vividly remember my father walking into the room when that one was on, looking at the screen for 30 seconds, and remarking in disgust, "What the hell are you watching?" Star Trek can be cheesy and campy, but that was the only episode I've ever felt ashamed to be caught watching.

I like SFDebris brand of humor but his reaction to Quark in drag is probably my personal favorite:

Quark, modified through surgery to look like a woman: So how do I look?
Chuck: Well, don't take this the wrong way, but... you are a nightmare made flesh! You have passed "Coyote Ugly" and have entered into some Twilight Realm beyond! If a man woke up in bed with you, he would happily chew through his own neck! No no no no no, don't give me that, HE WOULD FIND A WAY. — "Profit and Lace," one of only a few episodes in the entire Trek franchise to receive a rating of "0" by him.

I found Trek's lowest moment:

So low she's below floor level. ;-)
