Trek's Courage Dead At 88

The Star Trek theme, along with the Pink Panther theme and Peter Gunn, is probably one of the most recognizable pieces of music from visual media in the world. Mr. Courage made his mark with that bit and will be remembered for a long time to come.

and it's not only the theme melody. Just switch off the sound next time you see TOS.- Without the music the scenes simply don't work. Just think of this agitating theme when the ship is in danger (the one that sounds a bit like the white shark theme). Or the lovely duet for lyre and umbrella-skeleton which he composed for Spock and the hippie-girl.

That wasn't done by Courage. It was either Wilbur Hatch (Desilu's music director) or Fred Steiner. It's kind of a mistery actually.
