Play.com has the Playmates toy version of the new tricorder up for presale. Tragically, though, no photos. But I wouldn't be surprised if the toys are the first look we get at the new hand props. I know I'll be keeping my eye on it...

I do 'HOPE' that playmates don't fuck this up. I really do. Their attention to detail in the past hasnt been that great. There is so much marketing and merchandise potential for this movie, even now.

The equipment is the most interesting one, we havnt seen so much as a glimmer of the new equipment yet, not even in the stills.

Ill be intrigued as to how they have been re-designed.

I also hope that Playmates can produce them in a quality that matches the DST/AA Trek Tek replica/toys.

Then of course, there are Rubies Costumes for the new film to come, which should complete the picture.

Right, but keep in mind they are a toy company as well, so don't count on "AA/Diamond Select" quality or anything like that. Even if they weren't exact replicas, I still have VERY fond memories of the stuff they did as a kid in the early 90s. There was SO MUCH of it and alot of the stuff was actually very good. Their TOS Enterprise was terrific.

That's how I'm already seeing it, since there's no way I'm ever going to believe Quinto's Spock grows up to become Nimoy's Spock. Different universes altogether.
