Trek Typos

Over the years I have noticed one constant in online discussions about Trek: there are some names of characters, behind-the-scenes people and fictional places that are misspelled more often than others.

I always thought it's funny, when you think about how Star Trek fans are known to be somewhat narrow-minded when it comes to the writers adhering to established bits of canon.

I thought it would be fun to list the most common typos. A few favorites:

Sisco instead of Sisko.
Diana Troy instead of Deanna Troi.
Checkhov instead of Chekov.
Freiburger instead of Freiberger (3rd season producer of the original Star Trek).

Bragga instead of Braga.

I swear, half the world thinks "Khan" is spelled "Kahn."

And, yeah, "Chekhov" is way too prevalent, too.

And, outside of fandom, "Uhuru" and "Dr. Spock" are pretty common.

Branching out beyond STAR TREK, poor Joss Whedon probably has the most misspelled name on the internet.

One routinely sees "Josh" or "Whendon" or "Wheadon" or "Weldon" and pretty much every possible permutation or combination thereof.

And pity the poor BABYLON-5 fans who have to learn how to correctly spell the name of that show's creator (which I'm not even going to attempt).

For the longest time, like into the 2000s, I thought it was Jonathan Franks... I read it wrong the first time (as a little kid way back in the 80s) and it stuck.
