Wow what the hell is this?
https://www.giantfreakinrobot.com/ent/exclusive-star-trek-4.html
Star Trek 4 is back in the works with Chris Pine and the rest of the Kelvinverse crew. Paramount is looking for a new director to helm the project. Our source says that they will still be going with the story idea that sees Kirk reunited with his father, played by Chris Hemsworth, so some kind of time travel shenanigans would be involved. Our source also says that Paramount would not be planning to make Star Trek 4 a theatrical release. Instead, it will be a Paramount+ exclusive in an effort to get more consumers interested in the streaming service.

But, that is not all that we are being told. In addition to getting Chris Hemsworth for Star Trek 4, our source says that Paramount is trying to get William Shatner to appear in the movie in some capacity. If that’s the case, it sounds like the movie is going to try and connect to the original timeline of the series once again. Would we see a digitally de-aged William Shatner as his version of Captain Kirk? We have to imagine that would be an enticing offer for the actor. Getting to step back into the shoes of his younger self seems like the kind of opportunity Shatner would actually be interested in.

However, it is not all good news for Star Trek 4. Our source has also informed us that Paramount wants this entry to be the darkest entry in the series yet and that sounds a bit distressing. We have had our fill of dark Star Trek after one too many particular projects. Thankfully, the info we have received also says that there are other Star Trek movies in development for Paramount+. Hopefully, that means we could see other movies that aren’t quite as dour.

William Shatner on Twitter: "I’ve already addressed this. It’s ridiculous clickbait. I was never part of this movie. They took the rumors from Tarantino supposedly wanting me to come back & combined it with the Abrams (or whomever is doing this now) movie. It’s like Star Wars: pure science fantasy!" / Twitter

I think its time that we got covered website is shut down. it is not a credible site and it gets fans all worked up with false hopes.

Pine and Hemsworth are expensive movie actors, and they have minimum asks to be in a theatrically released movie.

This is a webisode.

They are afraid if they did this movie, back when it was a movie, probably a movie they actually want to do, for less than their going rate, that it will reduce their going rate on future projects.

And then they will be poor.

Star trek is like Jams bond it has to stick to its roots.
Wis why they have to make a new film with the brilliant Current cast.
who are so outstanding as the original cast they have almost become the original cast.

Eh, even if it's fake, I'm still going to break it down. I would like to see Pine and Hemsworth in something together so if they were in some Star Trek 4 or some other film that would be cool. I think Shatner coming back might have been cool in about 1996 or even in those Enterprise episodes in the Mirror Universe but definitely not now. Dark/light, whatever as long as the story is good. I think going introspective like something like Duet or In the Pale Moonlight or other ethics based episodes could be good but you better pull it off. I'd like to see the Kelvin cast again in something, whether it's just a minisode a few years down the track. I keep banging on about it but my ideal Trek film at this point would be some starship alone in deep space, with the feel and wonderment of Interstellar or Prometheus and looking at some interesting sci-fi concepts.

I would like William Shatner to make an appearance. no one said Leonard Nimoy nimoy was to old to do it.
I also loved the photpgraph of the whole crew in Star trek beyond.

Up until very recently yet another Kelvinverse movie would have been about as popular with me as a turd in a swimming pool. Maybe less so - I'm not a fan of the cast, the writing, the production design or...much else.

However, unlikely as it is (this rumour is 99%+ BS) a full circle wrapping it up back to the original timeline and an appearance by Shatner Kirk ?

O.K. then, get on with it. I'm in...

The two Chris' should never come cheap, these actors are hard workers and produced some compelling characters for those movies. Paramount should honor the terms of the deal and pay them despite the outcome of the third movie. It's not their fault "Beyond" sucked.

Shatner is almost 90. I think it's time to move on from this fantasy of Prime Kirk making an appearance. They had their chance in 2009 with the birthday video thing, which was cut / never made.
