Trek names in real life?

I've never met someone named after a Trek character. There was a kid in my elementary school who was named James Bond though.

Well, when my wife was pregnant I was joking around about naming our son the following names ...Worf, Jean-Luc, Kirk and Spock.

Then I rattled off Sarek.

Oh, I like that she said.

Are you kidding me?:wtf:

No.

So the name stuck.

Yep, my son is named Sarek.:)

I would name my daugter if I were to have on eeither Jadzia, Ezri or B'Elanna .. im sorry but I think those are great female names, i likethe sound to them.

I have no male names trek related I would ever use.

The necessary drug in "Requiem for Methuseleh" is ritalin...which is much the same as the otherwise-pronounced attention-deficit-disorder drug, yes?

When looking for a new doctor through my HMO, I came across an available physician, Dr. McCoy. I almost took him, but my current doc had the first available apointment. I will say it turned out to be a good decision, since my doctor is awesome. For the record, and to avoid possible lawsuit, McCoy may also be a wonderful doctor.

In a similar topic, my son played soccer with an Annakin. Yes, his parents were big Star Wars fans. Fortunately, the kid, who was very nice, was also very big for his age.

My wife and I thought seriously about naming one of our daughters Hermione, because we both like the name, but we thought the poor kid would be torchured (sp? it's early) all of her life with Harry Potter comments, so we spared her.

Wasn't the woman who replaced Florida on Maude (after Good Times was spun off) named Hermione as well? ;)

I've always wanted to name my son "Shatner Tiberius," but, I really think there's no chance of my wife, whoever she may be, would agree to that name.

Can't blame her, though. People would him "Shat" all the time.

Haha, yeah. That's what I figured too. Only way around that, I think, would be to call him Tiberius. Which is a Hell of a name for a five-year-old to carry.

How old is your son? Is he aware of the almost god-like status you have placed upon him?

When I was dating my wife she had a pair of half black, half white lab rats named Loki and Beale. I knew she was for me. :)

That just shows how a perfectly good name was ruined by popular literature and movies! Funny thing is JK Rowling has commented that she chose the name Hermione for the character because it was not a very popular name and she didn't want too many little girls "tortured" by their peers because of the stories.
