Just curious, why the TV edit?

Yeah..I saw that too..was there a different edit on TV...

The TV edit removed much of the Data-centric attempts at humor. For instance, as the saucer section tilts toward the planet, the camera tracks toward Data, but cuts away just before he utters an expletive in the theatrical cut. The tone of the movie is much improved by limited humor to only scenes meant to be generally humorous.

I can certainly understand that, then. I never really liked the way the movies handled Data's quest to be more human. The treatment of the emotion chip was inconsistent at best (fused to his neural net in GEN, he has to learn to live with it; it gets an on/off switch in FC; he leaves it in his sock drawer in INS and reverts to how he was acting during Season 1; it might as well not be there in NEM).
