Trek Map

I tried to do a search and the website did a brain fart on me. I don't know if anyone has asked about Trek Maps before. I have Googled and found an image "dated" 2269. I found another one that was laid out in 3D grid pattern and broken up into quadrants. I found those on ditl.org The problem is that they are different from each other. For example, Cardassian space is "core-ward" in one map but is "south" of federation space in the other one. Is there accurate text that says where places are located or just a good map for say 24th century space?

I'm not sure how accurate Online Maps relating to the Trek-Verse actually are, the best i've seen is the Star Trek: Star Charts Reference Guide (which you can probably still get from most Bookshops), which is extremely well detailed, with each series included with almost precise Continunity, asides from that, Star Trek Online might be a helpful search, most of the Alpha Quadrant is included in the Game and checking out Custom Made Maps

Well, I was hoping not to have to buy a Reference book or sign up for some online game in order to get an accurate map. Besides I would guess that most online games are only accurate for their own use; about as canon as your average retail novel.

Star Trek maps by Jeff Maynard is IMHO the best, YMMV.

Of the 5 links, only the 5th shows the Breen empire (or what ever it is called). It's huge and hard to view but when compared to one of my smaller maps It compares better to one of them. Thanks for the links

I can comment on what went into those Star Charts, but I'd like to stop short of putting too much of the material online, because that will cut the sales.

I don't get a cent out of it personally, but Geoff Mandel put a lot of work into it and will probably still prefer paying customers.

The [/i]Star Charts[/i] is probably the first fan map out there that is even halfway "official" in the sense that it uses as source material (and indeed directly reprints) maps that were used in the show itself, as background decoration or actual in-focus props. Previous printed fan maps (such as Mandel's earlier Star Maps were made back when no such maps had yet been used in Trek episodes or movies.

Most of the Charts is still conjecture, of course, and some of it has been outdated by ENT or new movies. Creating an accurate Trek map is a never-ending project...

One of the maps that you describe (the one divided into four quadrants) sounds like the galactic map from Star Trek online. I have no idea how accurate it is but I think it's pretty awesome.

of those 4 links, it's worth noting the second is scans of the fold-out maps in the back of Star Charts, pieced together.

the fourth one is from a fan-fic and thus features a load of stuff on it which is completely non-canon.

Star Charts is great, but as Timo said, sadly now out-dated.
