Trek/clothes; Public?

During these lull years of no new Trek, or heck even when two Trek TV shows were on air at the same time, did you, or do you still, where in clothes that are Star Trek in nature? I have the TREK T shirt they came out with that had Kirk/Picard/Sisko's faces on it above the words, displayed proudly, STAR TREK; THE CAPTAINS..

I still wear this shirt once in a while. I just wore it two weeks ago during Bowling week...

What about some of you? Do you still wear any Star Trek atire..hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm????

People who know me know that I'm a science-fiction enthusiast. If someone asks if I'm a sci-fi fan, I'll answer honestly. I'm also a member of a local sci-fi fan club.

Having said that, I haven't worn a Trek T-shirt or the like in public in a decade or more -- and I will not take part in any event that involves wearing a costume or being around people wearing costumes in public. I just... won't... do it.

I wonder if Barbara Adams still struts around in public wearing a TNG uniform all the time and insists on being called 'Commander'.

^ Nah. In the intervening years, I'm sure that she's been promoted to at least the rank of captain.

That is a good idea still. I still wear my Capt Picard for President T-shirt:cool: and with our current list of people running for the job; Capt Picard:) would still be the best choice for President of The United States.:)

I can't remember the last time I wore a Trek item, never mind wore one in public. I have a USS Nostomo cap that I wear when running. That's about it. I was looking through some old photos the other day and I found a photo of myself from years gone by with, what was even then, a retro "Star Trek Lives" t shirt. I'd really, really love one of those again.

yes, i wear both my VGR Seven T-shirt and my United Federation of Planets Starfleet Command crest T-shirt

and my 1996 Star Wars Special Edition t-shirt and my 200X Sunnydale High School t-shirt and even my 1995ish Trust No One back-print X-Files t-shirt...

I have a "Got Tribbles? No Troubles!" shirt with a cartoon of a couple of Starfleet officers on it with tribbles and a vacuum. It's done in the style of an old ad for a vacuum or cleaning service or something. I got it in Vegas at the Experience.

I put some Klingon rank pins on the shoulders of a leather jacket once. They suited the aesthetic, and most importantly, no-one knew what they were. I wouldn't be seen wearing knowably Trek stuff in public, even at a fancy dress party - the stigma's too great.

Good God, no. Star Trek fandom, like any fetish, is something you do in private with like-minded people, not in public. (And you should wash your hands afterwords.)

I've a got command red long-sleeved shirt (TNG) my best friend got me when I was in the hospital.

I've got a tie pin with the Klingon symbol on it. That's about as far as I've got with wearing anything Trek outside although I wouldn't mind if I could a few more Tie pins with the Starfleet insignia and a few other insignia's but either I'm not looking hard enough or there's very few places where you can get anything like this.

I used to wear a Star Trek pin. I've just bought a Star Trek dress from a lingerie shop in the UK (of all places) and I might wear it in public soon....

i used to wear a GEN era com-pin.

these days my coat has a Torchwood 'T' badge on one collar and an Autobot faction symbol badge on the other.

how's it any different to wearing a flag pin* or a pin for a sports team?

*point of fact, i also wear small Union flag and small St George's cross flag pins under the Autobot badge...

Well, as far as wearing a flag pin goes, one is an expression of allegiance to a real, existing polity that everyone in the community is subject to, and one is an expression of allegiance to a television program.

I agree with you on the sports team thing, though; it's only a difference of popularity.

I have a couple of Trek-related t-shirts but they are self-consciously geeky and tongue-in-cheek in nature, so if people decide to make fun of it they will end up looking like an ass.
