Transporter talk

In a couple episodes of tos we see Kirk getting transported just before an explosion but in tng in datalore we see data transport his evil twin and the phaser blast along with it my question is in tos how do they not transport a part of the explosion with them

They had to reverse the polarity of the transphasic coils while activating the magnetic restrictors at a .03 variance inside the confinement beam.

It’s just science.

With Kirk, in "OBSESSION" for example, he was beamed just before the explosion went off, so the transporter only had his pattern and not the blast.

In "Datalore", Lore fired the phaser either right when the beam locked onto him or just before, so the pattern of the phaser and its beam would be beamed along with Lore.

Situations like those, it literally comes down to milliseconds of timing.

(And, of course, dramatic presentation. :) )

One weird thing could be that while the transporter is.... well, transporting, flashy lights surround a character they wouldn't be able to move in the transporter beam. They are becoming energy....
Few examples, in STNG episode 'Darmok', transporter effect covers Picard and he starts screaming "nooooo".
In 'I Borg' when Hugh is transported to the Borg ship in the end of the episode Hugh looks at Geordi.

Sure they can move. Because as you said, we see them move.

The transporter in Star Trek is something that…doesn’t bear any scrutiny. Whatsoever.

What horrified me was the realisation that it basically tears the transportee apart, molecule by molecule and reassembles them. Doesn’t this basically mean that whoever steps into a transporter is essentially killed then resurrected?

Does this mean that all our Star Trek characters are the reanimated dead? Zombie Trek?

That makes a lot of sense thank you

And are they actually the same person
