Transformers 2 = Better Star Trek 2

I just got back from watching the second Transformers movie and I gotta say...

I'm actually looking forward to the second Trek movie now that I've seen what Orci and Kurtzman can do given a second go-round. Say what you will about their writing ability (and I have) but it's clear these guys will listen and will take on board what the fans have to say about their work.

My problems with the first film were too much stupid human stuff and too little characterization of the characters I've grown up with. In this one, the stupid human stuff is decreased by a large amount and the characterizations were almost perfect.

Prime is far more dignified, the Megatron/Starscream relationship is its usual undignified self and much more. I actually LIKED the Transformers this time and can honestly say it was a fun movie that I look back on and still had fun.

If this is what we can expect in Trek 2 then we'll all be in for a good time.

If they listen to this board, a giant sombrero being ridden by Captain Robau will attack earth, and in order to stop him the crew of the Enterprise will have to follow canon to the letter AND break it entirely at the exact same time. And the action has to come to a complete standstill so there can be a separate Gary Mitchell/Finnegan/Robert April gay threesome subplot.

This better be satire. Transformers 2 sucked, and it sucked hard.

Nah, no sarcasm.

I expected a bottomless pit of idiocy and instead got better characters, more robot action.

From what I understand, there's no Grimlock. :(:scream::(

But I don't think Transformers 2 should be used as any sort of indicator for Star Trek 2. They're just not the same, y'know?

Well, like I said before....

It shows Orci and Kurtzman are capable of listening to people's complaints and making changes based on those complaints.

The problem with Transformers 2 is basically what people have with Star Trek new movie no? The fact that it is quite a difference between Generation 1 (TOS for Star Trek).

Shamefully I have not seen either :( but I do own all the TOS and I do own all the G1 DVD's. Give me the Animated Transformers movie long before the live action ones though.

Oh and No "Me, Grimlock" = bad

Riiiight....

Far better to have the idiotic parents much more, the idiotic sector 7 guy, the idiotic room mate, the stupid twins, the rubbish mini deceptikon in the box....

SEVEN comic relief characters????

The whole thing was a giant mess film-wise. No structure, no pacing, no editing. It was all over the place, filled with plot holes, bad acting and a plot that just gets stupider and stupider.

And it was just boring and too long. Mindless action, but it wasn't even that interesting.

In my (and most reviewers) opinions.

I am not sure you can compare the two. The writers are important yes, but they write to the directors that they know will be at the helm. For bay they just write 2 minutes of dialogue, a hot girl and about 25 minutes of explosions. And Bay usually takes out half the dialogue and increases the explosions.

Abrams on the other hand will want more substance, more actual something from the writers than what Bay asks for...

Apparently The OP likes...

- Transformers with balls

- Transformers who hump womens legs

- Racist Stereotype Transformers

- Storylines that don't make sense

- Way too many comic relief Transformers

- Making Megatron into a whiny 2nd tier character.

Yes clearly nothing to worry about here. All that sounds great for Trek!

I thought Transformers was aimed at a different age group to Star Trek?

Well my friend took her 11yr old kid last night for a graduation celebration with about 9 of his friends....the kids liked it...but that's not really saying much...no offense to the kids but lets face it as kids we liked some pretty awful stuff! Fantasy Island anyone?

I held your opinion in high regard...sadly now with this post it shall be tarnished.
