Most the trailers I've seen for new TV and film projects have used pop music. It's a thing now. Doesn't mean it will actually be in the show.
No, such a move would Sabotage the project. Why not? To the people of the 23th Century, after all, this is classical music.![]()

The giantsLike Mozart, Mendelssohn or Motorhead.
Same here.I must have watched a different trailer to people in /r/startrek, because it looks great to me.
Did people suddenly forget how trailers work? Just because the trailer features a certain type of song doesn't mean that's how the show's music will be handled.Really hope they get rid of the pop music-- it felt almost as cheesy as the Enterprise song. I honestly don't have a great feeling.
I think the past several Star Trek trailers (not just DSC but Beyond as well) have proven that the purpose of trailers is greatly misunderstood.Did people suddenly forget how trailers work? I happened to think the song meshed particularly well with the events in the trailer. But then I've liked Jetta's take on I'd Love to Change the World since it was used to great effect in Episode 4x01 of Person of Interest.
ST: D - I've had enough of TNG and the 24th century retcon to classic TOS myself. So the question is which trailer do you all prefer, STD or the new Orville trailer
We've seen the set construction photos. There's more than enough plywood. What was it? Not enough plywood?
I don't even bother with /r/startrek because every time I go there it's the same pessimistic whining and sweeping statements about "what the fans want."I must have watched a different trailer to people in /r/startrek, because it looks great to me.

Because Star Trek trailers have never been full of pew pew and explosions before.Well it had lots of s'plosions and pew-pew.
No no. Clearly you don't remember the facts as they are in my head and not in reality.Because Star Trek trailers have never been full of pew pew and explosions before.Even the "intellectual" TMP had "pew pew" trailer
Seriously, earlier I saw a guy argue that the fact there was a line about vengeance showed it wasn't true Star Trek. That The Wrath of Khan is one of the most popular Star Trek movies around is clearly lost on them. Then again, some people are going to hate it because it's new and different.
I love trailer voice guy, Cha'kottay and Tuwok!Because Star Trek trailers have never been full of pew pew and explosions before.Even the "intellectual" TMP had "pew pew" trailer
I found it odd that Chakotay, Kes and even Tuvok's names were pronounced differently.God those trailers are awful and the voice over guys were given some downright dodgy and in some cases false lines to read.
