Anyone else seeing the movie this weekend? I grew up watching the first two and looking forward to see how this story concludes. Right now the reviews at Rottentomatoes have been incredible. Looks like Pixar did it again.

I just came back from seeing it. It's great! Not as good as Toy Story 2, but still fantastic nonetheless. The only issue I had with the movie is that it got really, really, really dark for a few minutes towards the end. Not that anything is wrong with dark, I just usually wouldn't associate it with a Toy Story movie.

All in all, good flick. I'm sure this'll make enough money to justify a Toy Story 4.

Edit: Also, the short film, Day and Night, is a fantastic and clever piece of animation.

My family and I are going to see this sometime tomorrow afternoon. We watched both Toy Story and Toy Story 2 together the other day. Was a fantastic family movie night! We are all looking forward to this one!!

{side note: since in 2 years my daughter is going off to college, I am sure I will be a 'blubbering idiot' after this one}

I'm excited to see it, but realistically it'll probably be when it comes out on DVD. Nice to see positive reviews, but not surprising. Seems pretty rare for Pixar to disappoint.

I just watched the first one again the other day. Amazing it's been 15 years already, and it hasn't aged a bit IMO. The lighting and shadow effects in particular are still nothing short of amazing. Those people at Pixar really were ahead of their time, and to this day there is still no one else that can do computer animation that looks as good as what they do (that I know of or have seen).

I've got tickets to see it tonight with one of my friends.

Mom can't believe that Andy is in college now; I was eight when the first movie came out.

After 130 reviews, its grade is still 100% at Rottentomatoes! Looks like this will be the first threequel that doesn't disappoint. :D

Oh...Armond White ruined it... go figure. The other guy's review wasn't even a review, just a synopsis.

If all the bad reviews are going to be coming from the likes of the great troll and chris-chan's brother, this all but guarantees a 100% grade.

I am convinced Pixar is the best Studio ever. Heck, I'm so convinced, I think I need to see Monster's Inc (My least favorite Pixar film) again just to see if I missed judged it at the time.

Just got back from it and it is a great movie and makes for an awesome little trilogy. It's so fun seeing these characters back together again, and much like the first and second film, you just have to love everything these guys do. There were a ton of great moments in this movie, some cute moments, but it really was a movie swan song in the end.

Speaking of the end, I've heard complaints that it was a bit too schmaltzy, but I really don't care. I kind of choked up a bit, and especially after a somewhat dark (For Pixar) scene to wrap up the action, it was welcome. Also, this is Pixar, and this is the Franchise that put Pixar on the map. They automatically get a free ride and I accept that.

Fantastic movie, and once again, Pixar does wonders. Just a quick thing about the Short (Since those are awesome and criminally get underreviewed as they are a Pixar Trademark), it's Called Night and Day and it was a mixture of the classic Disney and Pixar Computer Generated. It was cute, but not one of my favorites. Still, since it was done by the best Studio ever, it was still awesome.

This whole movie was total fanservice for twentysomethings like me who were raised on the first two movies. I loved every minute of it. First thing I did on getting home was to get all the old stuffed animals out of the top shelf of my old room closet for a bit; hadn't seen any of those guys in years.

The loss of Bo Peep was a subtle but powerful little moment; poor Woody.:( Makes sense, though; I don't imagine Molly would have had use for a lamp like that past a certain age.

Also, actually, how few of the army men were left. I got a whole bucket of those after the first movie; I don't know where they ended up.

This is probably the funniest of the three films, while also the saddest. They struck an interesting balance between relentlessly skewering poor Ken and having him be an actual character (if he was an 80s model, why was he so obsessed with the 1970s?). I was surprised at how strong a character they made Barbie.

I really liked how they made use of the advances in communication technology since the first two (mobile phones, computer chats, etc).

Nitpick: What possible settings does Buzz have that would require a reset function? His programming, so far as we know, is a few catch phrases, and there's never been any indication he's got options for the owner to personalize him beyond that.

I don't think you misjudged it. It's my least favorite as well. Visually it's swell, but the writing just wasn't up to par IMO.

HOLY COW!

First off, I have to give major congratulations to the Disney marketing people for not ruining this film with the previews! About 50 minutes in I though "Oh my god, I literally don't know where this plot is going."

I can't even remember the last time that's happened to me. Movie ads show so much these days I always know how the basic plot is going to play out. But not this time! I can barely explain how happy that made me. It was wonderful.

That alone is a good enough reason to see this film right away, but there are so many other reasons. It was magical from start to finish.

And yes, if you're a parent, you will cry a couple of times. I don't know what you non-parents think...you probably think "sorta sad" where I was literally getting teary. Probably no way around that particular divide between you and me. You'll just have to take my word for it.

And speaking of not being spoiled by the trailers...it reached the point where:

I LITERALLY thought all the main characters were all going to die in the fire!

When was the last time that happened to you in a movie? Ever? I can't think of another time. And before you call me stupid, consider that:

I thought they were gonna do some kind of recycle/reincarnation thing where it turns out toys live forever by becoming new toys and they'd all end up together at a new kid's house that way.

So...like, not the dumbest idea, right? You can forgive me for considering it. Even if you were too smart to think that, you have to admit that that was the darkest Pixar scene ever. I really don't think there's any argument to be made there. That wins. Holy cow.

Ok, that's enough out of me. Basically, I loved it.

A+. Best movie I've seen all year. Period! I had no idea where the story was going either...and I'm not a parent, just a girl in her late twenties, and I was pretty much crying for the last twenty minutes of the film!

Excellent story, loved the Spanish flamenco-dancing Buzz!, and enjoyed the Ken/Barbie scenes. If Toy Story 3 is how it all ends, I can think of no better ending for Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and all the rest. :)

I should clarify. The end of the film will probably make most people a bit teary. I'm sure that's normal.

The "being-a-parent" part I was talking about was the beginning of the film. The home-movies were rough for me and I expect they weren't for you.

Average. It felt simpler and less creative than the first two. I liked the cast, especially Hamm, Rex and Mrs. Potato Head, but some of the attitudes, like Mr. Potato Head's constant hostility, felt too much from the first film rather than the second or more developed.
Jessie's liking for Buzz felt too strange, how Buzz regained his personality was unbelievable and the Spanish adventurer-romancer humor felt pretty cheap.
The incinerator scene was very well done but the LGM solution felt too implausible (it would have been OK if it had been the only bit of magic). I would have preferred some mention of Buzz trying to fly or a hint that the LGM were trying to help.

"Lotso" Bear was well-voiced but didn't have enough motivation to try to keep the toys at the center. The children wouldn't have been devastated at losing some toys after one day. Woody's escape plan felt overly complicated and effortlessly, suddenly thought up.

Saw the film last night. Very good. Very... mature... and kinda dark, in some ways (I'm thinking particularly of the climax where the main characters admit defeat, accept their impending deaths, and silently hold hands while they wait for the inevitable...). Absolutely more emotional than the previous films. I actually would have liked a little more humor, but I'm happy with what we got. Spanish Buzz was hysterical - I'm really glad that the trailers didn't ruin that gag for the audience.

An AMAZING film. Five Stars, 10 out of 10, this movie is just fantastic. I hate myself for it, but I may have squirted a tear in public - yet it was totally worth it.
