Jeff Mariotte turns in his first Trek novel in almost a decade (Lost Era: Deny Thy Father saw release in December 2003) with this month's 5YM novel, The Folded World. I boldly suggest that its cover is even nicer than the one of Greg's! Official street date: April 30th.

This review thread intro post is tightly surrounding and being held in place by the official blurb:

En route to a diplomatic mission, the Enterprise receives a distress call from the USS McRaven. As the Enterprise approaches the area where the McRaven appears to be, the crew encounters an anomaly unlike anything they’ve ever experienced. Space itself seems inconsistent – warping, changing appearance. But during the brief periods of calm, they locate the McRaven – along with other ships of various origins, all tightly surrounding and being held in place by an enormous unidentified vessel....
Alas, no excerpt.

I've noticed that they seem to be releasing the covers, blurbs, exerpts, ect. a lot later than they used to.

I just picked this one up tonight at B&N. i plan to wrap up "The Weight of Worlds" tonight, then start on this new one tomorrow.

Have other people gotten theirs? Rereading "Weight..." until this book appears.
I just started it last night. Only 3 or 4 chapters in, quite the different beginning for a trek novel. At first, I thought it was a misprint. lol. But i'm really getting into it, especially this new character Mariotte created.

Lots of ships on that cover! Here's the ones I can make out:

- a Y-class freighter from ENT
- a Vulcan ring ship (looks like Suurok-class)
- another Constitution-class ship
- a Romulan bird of prey from TOS
- a DY-100
- POSSIBLY an ENT-era Andorian starship (the one to the right of the Vulcan ship and below the Y-class freighter)
- The only one I for sure can't make out is the one directly above the NCC-1701 saucer and below the other Connie.

- POSSIBLY an ENT-era Andorian starship (the one to the right of the Vulcan ship and below the Y-class freighter)

I think that one is the Xyrillian ship from Enterprise's "Unexpected."

EDIT: It's pretty close, anyway:

I just found last week that Jeff Mariotte is going at this year's Phoenix Comic-Con. Sadly my chances of making it are pretty low at this point.

Very fast paced and overall a good addition to Trek lit. Enjoyed the story :techman:
