What Original Series species would you have like to seen (or seen more) in ST: Deep Space Nine?

Gorn and Tholians for me

Gorn

Trelane (I hate how they brought him back to play Koloth but not Trelane :()

Giant Space Amoeba

Horta (I think they should have had an episode where Horta get into a beef vs. Vorta)

Nomad

Harry Mudd (except the actor had passed on so I guess that would be impossible to recast him as well)

Many of the named aliens were very cool. The TOS Gorn and Tholians were indeed awesome, and the Horta was quite creative. But my favorite was probably the Melkot.

I think it would have been freakin' nice to see some Andorians and Tellarites once in a while.

The Horta!!!!!

Ha! There's an old DS9 novel you ought to read called Devil in the Sky, if you want to see what might happen in THAT case... ;)

Marie1, Nerys Ghemor,

There are two ST novels with one of the Horta's kids serving on Kirk's Enterprise. One is The Wounded Sky, the other is My Enemy, My Ally. They're both enjoyable novels.

I would've also liked to have seen Andorians in DSN. A stray Orion would've been nice, too, and what the hell, why not a Cappellan in the background? I do know that Leonard James Akaar is a character in several novels -- a name destined to go down in galactic history!

Thankfully, ENT showed Andorians, Orions, and Tellarites.

Red Ranger

Nomad
Trelane
Harry Mudd (except the actor had passed on so I guess that would be impossible to recast him as well)

Nomad self- destructed! ( Error, error)

Trelane; Hmm Interesting one here, Trelane feuding with Q ??

Harry would be close to 200, so it could have been harry Mudd III
with a Jack Black in the role??

Probably the Tholians as they were mentioned to have a non-aggression pact with the Dominion.

Also an Orion slave girl. Is it not unusual that Quark did not have one in his bar?

Given that the station was run by the Federation and they didn't want him to include clauses in his contracts that required sexual favours from his female staff I don't think they would look kindly on slavery.

Andorians. Say what you like about Enterprise, but reintroducing the Andorians and having them play a major role was a smart move.

Mentioning the Orion syndicate was lame without ever showing a single Orion on the series. Sure the syndicate is more than Orions, but...

The Orion Syndicate as stated were mentioned numerous times throghout DS9 especially in relation to Quark's shady dealings. As MeanJoePhaser says it was rather lame not to utilise them. It would seem only natural to include them in a number of stories using Quark and Odo especially. Especially in the early seasons they could have been a recurring concern or double dealing with Maquis or Cardassians.

Then the Orions could have actually appeared and PLus using the Orion Syndicate allowed opportunities to not only use Orions but the other TOS aliens mentioned by posters already.

I suppose though they probably refrained from using established aliens in the beginning in order to explore the Gamma Quadrant more. But we didn't actually see very many of them!

Ohhhh! Thanks for the titles- there were Horta in a book I read in high school, and now I can't find it! I've been searching, maybe its one of those two!! I'll look! (I'm excited now!) :) EDIT- grr, neither of those... for some reason I think I read a TNG book with a Horta- is that possible?

Again, something the novels have done. The DS9 Relaunch novels introduced Treir, an Orion (ex-slave) woman who works for Quark. (They also introduce an Andorian character.) Kind of a nice way to make up for the things the series never got around to doing.

ENT also featured Tholians, Gorn and Organians.

I would have loved to seen the Gorn fight alongside the Federation in the Dominion War. I was also hoping for some Andorians... One of Julian Bashir's friends is Andorian.
