TOS "Remastered"...two seasons or three?

2 seasons, 40 & 40 episodes (with "The Cage" there are 80 1 hour episodes).

I was asking whether or not the dvd releases were following the syndication or origninal air seasons, yes...and now I have an answer, thank you... :)

Two seasons of forty episodes apiece. "The Enterprise Incident" is the 64th to air, so that leaves just sixteen left before the Remastering cycle is completed.

But how are they being released on DVD, eddie, is the question: two sets or three? Others have said they're being released in original season sets. Have you heard different?

They *are* being released on DVD in the original season sets - we've seen it. Season 1 has been out for awhile (in a DVD/HD-DVD combo). Season 2 will come soon, but only in standard def DVD for the moment.

Presumably we will soon get Blu-Ray versions of all three seasons.

Do you mean to say that they might well release all three seasons on blu-ray at once? And soon?
I, unfortunately picked up Season one on what is now, for all intents and purposes a dead format.
I'm really jazzed about seeing the other 2 seasons remastered as I really dig what they've done.
Have all the TOS episodes been remastered at this point or are they still working on some?

Agreed. They will stagger them. It takes time to produce them, get the packaging lined up, fit them into a shipping schedule, etc.

I was going to disagree about the "packaging" aspect, until I realized that they're likely to try and DESPERATELY avoid the blu-ray sets looking like the HD-DVD ones, so's to avoid people not picking up on the b-r's being the new ones.

That must be KILLING some people at CBS. All that time they spent designing the packaging and presentation, and now they're likely having to do it all over again, AND make it look just as good. :p

I wonder when the Season 2 standard DVD sets come out, what THOSE packages will look like? I'm guessing they'll go with the previous design, then make the blue-rays look very different.

Since there are no Blu-Ray/standard DVD combos, that I am aware of, the BR versions of TOS-R will probably be very differently packaged. Smaller, and hopefully cheaper.

And cheaper??

What planet is THAT gonna happen on?...if so I want to go there...

Well, I can only assume that a set that is only Blu-Ray would, logically, be cheaper - even a little bit - than one which is a combo with standard def on the other side. I'm just guessing that the Blu-Ray version won't be a combo since we have never heard of such a thing anyway.

on Vulcan, maybe but this is 21st century earth and CBS has us by the balls now that the format war is over...we'll pay through the noose for the blu-ray versions...well I wont because I'll wait for someone else to post them on ebay...but generally people will...

I'm assuming we're getting one DVD set for each original season of the series and that all three will be on store shelves sometime after the Remastered "Turnabout Intruder" airs...the final episode in the cycle.
