TOS remastered blu rays vs TOS original version dvds

I own all the TOS sets on dvd, but not the remastered versions. I now have a blu ray player. Are the new remastered TOS blu rays worth it, or am I better off just sticking with the original version dvds?

Depends really on what your opinion on the remastered TOS episodes are. If you're into the space shots re-done in CGI, than the remastered blu-ray set is for you. If not, than your original version DVDs should suffice.

Bullsh*t!

The difference between the original DVD season sets and the Blu-Rays is tremendous. With the Blu-Rays you get both the original sfx and the redone ones.

Though I am not nearly as emotional about it... BillJ is correct. The blueray does offer things the original DVD issue does not. Just the enhanced picture quality and remixed sound is enough to sell the blueray set for me. (And I am very pleased that the old and new effects are included.)

Also, well, the quality of the Blu-Ray image is massively superior to the quality of the DVD image. That's why Blu-rays exist.

All true. Speaking for myself, I could kick myself for not buying the Blu-Ray sets right out of the gate last year. Instead, I chose the remastered DVDs. They're very nice too in terms of picture quality - especially the vivid colors are amazing compared to the original release. However, I'm not a fan of the CG effects and would now love to have the choice... which BR offers. I'll upgrade sometime, but if it's all the same to you, go with BR right now.

The Blu-Rays truly are superior, whether you care to watch the "Remastered" versions or not (personally, I love the them, but your mileage may vary). The originals (including the mono soundtrack) are included as well as the "Remastered" versions with redone visual effects and new sound mixes. Most of the special features from the DVDs are ported over as well. Season three is a little thin on features compared to the other two seasons, but all three seasons are worth it for the improved picture quality and sound.

Sorry. Star Trek and Blu-Ray are two things I'm passionate about.

Season three is worth getting because it has the enhanced version of The Cage and the original version of Where No Man Has Gone Before.
