I've got the 2016 Blu-ray set, and that box refers only to enhanced fx, no mention of original fx. So I lean toward thinking the new blu's are the same way. Which is dumb. The box should say "your choice" as a selling point.
Because the 2016 BD packaging makes no mention of original fx, and my 2008 remastered DVD set looks like flipper disks, I recently had to check them just in case. What if they've had the original fx all along and just don't say so? Turns out they are not flipper disks, just silvery and blank on the side where artwork should be.
If I remember correctly, the 2008 remastered DVD set was a hybrid release. One side was TOS-R and was HD-DVD for those with HD-DVD players. (Remember the HD-DVD vs Blu-ray format war?). The other side was also TOS-R, but in Standard Definition for people with regular DVD players.
Bingo. They'll just re-press the same masters with new art.
Okay, I see they had a "Combo Format" set that looked just like my three boxes except for that detail. I have the DVD-only remastered boxes. And that version's lack of disc art is just an economy measure. This is good to know.
You can, but not with a streaming subscription. Amazon Prime Video does offer the un-remastered version for streaming, but you have to buy them.
I am glad to see that vinyl records are back in vogue, though.
ETA: I just double checked Amazon to make sure the un-remastered TOS was still there. It is. If you search for "Star Trek: The Original Series" under Prime Video, both the remastered and original versions are available. It is $1.99 per episode or $34.99 for an entire season.
