TOS Blu-Ray Steelbook enquiry (UK).

It has the exact same extra features, which would indicate that it's just a repackaging of the same discs that were released before. This is confirmed by a vitriolic 1-star review on Amazon UK which raises a stink about them recycling 10-year-old discs instead of correcting known issues.

Agreed!

I've seen the list of extra features, but it doesn't say anything about effects options.

If the discs are reprints, they'll have all the same options as the discs I bought more than a decade ago*.

*God, I can't believe it has been that long!

Unless they were adding brand new features or doing a new remaster/touchup/audio remix/whatever to the episodes (which we would have known about), then it wouldn't make sense to change any of the content. That would require the process of authoring completely new discs, which would mean more labor time and expense for no reason. It's cheaper to just produce more copies of what they already have ready to go.

I agree but man seeing the preview to Star Trek 2009 as if it's coming soon is a laugher on new discs.

I bought a new VHS copy of TMP in 1997. It was actually from a 1987 master, and still included a very early trailer for TNG, with the spandex uniforms and Tasha Yar. At the time, no-one ever seemed to mention that era.
