Chimes at Midnight in Echoes in Refraction contains a very brutal scene where Kruge goes to town on David marcus- any other scenes in books that you can think of that contain such brutal explicit torture scenes?

Quark and Rom are tortured by the Bajorans in The 34th Rule, and while I don't remember it being graphic, I do remember being quite affected by it.
Not to mention it's the kind of thing which definitely breaks the illusion that that particular novel could be taking place between episodes. IIRC, the novel is set during DS9's 4th season, I find it hard to believe there's any point in the fourth season where Quark and Rom are recovering from that particular ordeal.

Good novel all the same, though.

Quark is used to that kind of treatment.

Wow, I didn't realize just how much poor Quark got beat up, and I watched the first 3 minutes of it.

Just remembered that Wol is tortured by the Elabrej in Enemy Territory.
