If you can't learn something as simple as adding a poll, can't someone else do these threads?

Re: TORCHWOOD: Miracle Day episode two "Rendition" disscussions & comm

Polls are overrated anyways LOL

Agreed.

timothy, we're about four days away from the next episode and if you're that eager to start the next thread, fine. But use the extra time to teach yourself a new skill: adding a poll. It takes minutes to learn.

Re: TORCHWOOD: Miracle Day episode two "Rendition" disscussions & comm

how was that my first time cool.

Re: TORCHWOOD: Miracle Day episode two "Rendition" disscussions & comm

"Rendition", huh? So our heroes spend most of the episode being held in Guantanamo? :p

Re: TORCHWOOD: Miracle Day episode two "Rendition" disscussions & comm

If you have 50 posts and 2 weeks since registering you can add an avatar. Less than 50 posts or less than 2 weeks since registering, you have to wait until you reach both.

Once you reach them, go to your USER CP, down the left hand side of the screen you will see links, pres "Edit Avatar", and you should be able to figure it out from there. Or maybe in the beginning you want to look for "Add Avatar"?

While this situation appears to be extraordinary rendition, I should point out that "rendition" technically just means the same thing as an extradition. In order to prosecute anyone who has fled to another jurisdiction, you need a rendition

Timothy, I certainly don't mind one way or another if you can make a poll, but ... how can you reach the rank of Commodore, have over 2400 posts since last November, and still be "learning things on this site"?

For the love of Andromeda ... click a few links now and then, lad!

Timothy, with all due respect, you've kind of monopolized all of the grading and discussion threads for TV shows in the SF&F and TV&M forums over the past few months, which really isn't fair when you can't put together a decent poll or complete a single thread title without a misspelling. Other people put together some rather elaborate opening posts for new shows/episodes that include plot summaries, polls personalized to the show, and images, and now they've been pushed out by you always jumping the gun.

I get that you apparently watch a lot of TV, but perhaps in the future you should hold off on starting a thread until the day before the show starts or something to give someone else a chance to start one, and if they haven't by then, go for it. You don't need to start a thread four days or a month (which you've done) before the show or episode airs just to be the first one.

Sorry to be a buzzkill, but it's something I've noticed with your threads before and have seen others complain about, and people were already commenting on it here, so it seemed like a good time to bring it up. I'm not a mod in this forum, so it's not an "order" or anything, just a request.

You do bring attention to a lot of shows that might not otherwise get their own thread, so you do a good job with that. Just give some other people a chance to start some grading and discussion threads too, okay? :)

I'm not entirely sure if I understand what your asking, but I'll give a shot.

Rendition is extradition. If someone is outside your jurisdiction (in other words, in another country or another state inside the United States), they have to be extradited. This is often a fairly complicated process that could take weeks or months (has Julian Assange been extradited to Sweden yet?). There's also extralegal or extraordinary rendition, which means rendition through means outside the law.

In this situation, it appears the CIA guy had the support of the British government, since they would be the ones to have ordered police cooperation with him. In the real world, it's a bit unclear how much the British government has cooperated with the CIA as far as extrajudicial extraditions go. However, it appears in the Torchwood universe, the 456 encounter has led to a change in protocol. I don't know exactly what, but it certainly appears the UK government is giving lots of deference to a request like this to extradite back to the US.

Re: TORCHWOOD: Miracle Day episode two "Rendition" disscussions & comm

Firefox 2 or higher allows you to install dictionaries to spellcheck your forum posts. I've found them very useful in making my posts less gibberishy. Not totally void of gibberish, but certainly well put out. Although if it were all well put out i doubt I would put so many people out.

Besides, from watching the many current tv shows about the CIA (Covert Affairs, Chaos and Nikita (one of her boyfriends).) it's clear that the CIA is about spreading Imperialistic America rule everywhere. Not law, "rule". Forwarding their own Agenda no matter how much the little countries struggle.

That extradition at the end of episode one was barely legal, but I suppose since an American President was recently murdered on British soil by the British Primeminister, that all those islands there abouts are heavily debited in the favour bank from not being nuked as a proportionate and cordual response to President Winters assasination or the kidnapping of President Obama's body Christmas before last.

Just bustin' your chops. I apologize, Timothy. Please forgive me.

They mentioned the 456. It appears the law was amended to allow extradition without the formal process in certain situations. Otherwise, no, it would not be legal (at least, there would be no legal process authorizing it).
