BTW, since this thread is still going. Anyone remember the description of the badguys. Not the family part, but the whole everywhere, etc. aspect. I wonder if we can get some clues from that.

That would be ironic as its Torchwoods primary research tool.

Catching up...

And I really like the Jilly character - they've added some depth to her that I didn't expect.

She's actually become my favourite character this season. Although I also think they're writing Gwen really well this season. I like her a lot more now than I ever did in the past.

The trailer for next week caught my eye, mainly due to deja vu. Didn't they do the "if anyone gets this message" shtick with Gwen in Children of Earth?

Yeah, I complained about the reuse of story ideas last week (along with the rest of you) and it hasn't got any better.

The thing that's kind of bugging me though, is that this just isn't the same show as Torchwood season 1. It's not even the same kind of show. Every time they say, "This is exactly the kind of problem Torchwood used to handle," I say, "No it isn't!" You never handled worldwide conspiracies, not once. You investigated a weird rock that landed in someone's back yard, and interrupted dinner parties in the Brecon Beacons.

Loved it. Loved the Mare Winnigham cameo and her grisly fate, man that was cruel, eyeball still moving around to drive home the point. C. Thomas Howell was great too.

That's not a cameo, that's a guest starring role. A cameo is when someone walks onto the screen and walks right off again without saying a word.

Why were they watching Esthers family and not Rex's?

They probably didn't know where Rex's father was - I thought it was pretty clear that the dad was living at subsistence level, probably squatting in that apartment illegally. I imagine he probably doesn't have much of a paper trail for anyone to track him down. (Although that leaves the question of how Rex knew where he was if they hadn't spoken in 15 years.)

Oh, wasn't one of the other Torchwood teams "Missing under mysterious circumstances"?

I think you're referring to Torchwood 4, which according to Jack, disappeared but were expected to return one day.

I always took that for a throwaway Babylon 5 reference, but it's possible they could do something with it.
