Well I thought that was excellent. No idea how much gay sex there was in the US version but who cares, doubt it was plot specific! Anyway, this felt like an episode from a whole another series...a better series! Why'd we have to wait so long? This story really was dragged out wasn't it?
I'd agree that maybe we should have met Angelo sooner, but he was great, and the actor and Barrowman had great chemistry. Love that we got an alien, love all the Doctor Who/SJA refs, loved seeing Major Kira, and liked that Ester and Rex saved the day.
In fact I think the only thing wrong with this episode is that it didn't happen sooner!
re the gay sex, Jack and barman I didn't care for, it served no purpose, this did!
the first 20 minuts was a bit of a chore to watch, I didnt really care for Jack and Angelo however it may prove to be worthwhile.
That said Jack playing Doctor was fun, and its great the show is still able to refrence both Doctor Who & Sarah Jane with the trickester creature.
The idea that its all done for the love of Jack is interesting (he must be really good in bed) but im left wondering why everyone, doesnt make that much differnce to Angelo is everyone else dies, as long as he and Jack continue to live.
It was good to see Rex and Esther at the end, they finally did something to help and surprising.
This episode may have been slow at the start, but it did pick up but its actually added to the plot, which is very welcome.

I really enjoyed this episode, I agree it should have happened sooner, at this point it kinda feels like it's too late, but overall it was a good episode.
There was no cuts in this episode as far as the BBC have said. They said they left the sex scene intact in this episode as it had editorial reason, where as earlier it served no real purpose to the story.
Loved the connection to Doctor Who and the Trickster Brigade. Interesting that they put that particular reference in.
It was definately a different episode. It felt much more like the early seasons due to the intense focus on Jack, putting Rex & Esther on the sidelines and not featuring Oswald or Jilly at all. Considering how much Jack has been on the sidelines this season, that was a very refreshing change.
I liked the Jack/Angelo romance but found the sex scenes distracting. (I would like to point out that Tosh & Mary only had sex during the cutaways in "Greeks Bearing Gifts." ) It also created a huge sense of awkwardness since I watch this show with a couple of my other close friends. When we saw the warning for nudity at the beginning of the episode, we knew what was happening and it detached us from the episode enough that we starting riffing on it more than usual.
My favorite lines that we came up with:
When Esther tells Rex that the dead doctor was from San Antonio, he said, "Well then, go Spurs." That prompted an immediate reply from us of "Fuck the Spurs!" (We're Phoenix Suns fans, you see.) Then, whenever the episode got quiet or awkward or slow, we would shout "Fuck the Spurs!" again.
After Jack's blood of Christ joke failed to get a reaction from my Baptist friends, I leaned over and whispered, "I guess that joke is funnier if you believe in Transubstantiation."
I miss omnisexual Jack. I don't think he's flirted with any women at all since Sarah Jane in "The Stolen Earth," not even that sexy secretary that was working for Ernie Hudson last week. And his flirtations don't seem quite as fun anymore. It's less "I've stumbled on someone that seems really fun & attractive. Lets flirt and see where this leads." Now, he seems more deliberately on the prowl; more like "I need sex. Who can I find that's willing?" It seems more about the goal of sex than the person that he's having it with.
It reminded me of those episodes of Angel where they'd flash back to something in his past, and then we'd go back to the present day, and the guy from the past would turn out to be the antagonist.
It was revealed in an interview a while back, and implied in this trailer, John de Lancie is with the CIA. In fact, he's higher up than Wayne Knight's character.
Ooh! Can he be the twin brother of Col. Simmons (de Lancie's NID stooge during the 5th & 6th seasons of Stargate SG-1)?
While I'm sure Angelo is involved, I'll be really upset if there isn't some kind of alien at the center of all this. I mean, I really can't imagine anyone but an alien pulling this off technologically nor having any motivation to do so considering the broad ramifications for the entire human species.
The initial seduction was a bit cringeworthy and went on too long but after that it was all good. However that paled in comparison to the exchange between Gwen and Jack in the car - now THAT is a real Welsh woman fighting for her family! It was believable, funny, and note-perfect.
It looks like the Miracle might be misguided revenge against the Catholic Church? Maybe Angelo was recruited by the three businessmen and they were able to use that vial of blood that was taken during the torture.
Overall the series hasn't had the sheer awesomeness of Children of Earth but it's been a reasonably decent story overall. I wish they'd done more multi-part stories earlier in the show's history - I'd have enjoyed it far more.
I don'ty know what was more powerful, how far Gwen was prepared to go, or Jack saying he'd strip the skin from her bones to stay alive!
As for the miracle, I did wonder if maybe Angelo had become imortal (somehow) and the actual switch is less about making Jack mortal, than making him (Angelo) mortal again.
It was OK, but they need to be bringing in answers, not more mysteries (so, are those three guys Wolf, Ram and Hart, or what?), at this point in the run.
This should have been, say, episode three of a six part serial.
The brain-snake thing looked awfully like a Goa'uld symbiote from SG1 (but larger)
Otherwise, nice Highlander-style episode (the torture porn bit is something I've said for years needed to be done in that show) - I wonder what would happen if they cut Jack's head off? Would both parts live, or would his body die and the head become the Face of Boe?
Him still using the name Jack Harkness in that period is daft as well - since it's getting to the point where he first borrowed the name, which means there's going to be two of our Jack *and* the real Harkness all knocking about at the same time...

I got the impression that the point of the Miracle was more about giving Jack the ability to die instead making everyone else immortal.
I used to think it was all a plot to kill Jack but now it looks like it's about the Angelo relationship. Jack said that he couldn't be with him because they couldn't die together. Now that he can die he can be with Angelo?

I can see how that may be Angelo's motivation for helping "The Real Enemy", but, it'll be disappointing if that's the only motivation for the whole thing.
