I've taken to following the show here rather than watch. There are too many characters like Dane that I don't have any feeling for but boredom. The pace is glacial, this show, up to episode 5 where I stopped, could have been condensed into 2 or 3 well paced episodes. I might catch the final one, but at this point the nearness of Doctor Who starting has put this way down on the watch list.

I would tend to agree that the pacing could be a little tighter. Though wasn't MD when the BBC was considering doing it themselves mend to be only 5 episodes long similar to CoE. When Starz came in as a co-producer it got expanded to 10 episodes.

Pretty average, which pretty much sums up the show so far really. Enjoyable enough but lets face it I'm never going to own it on DVD.

I liked Jack's conversation with Earnie Hudson, and I liked Esther's fight with Conrad Eckly ;) I thought it was quite believable, well as believable as a slip of a girl getting one over on a man twice her size can ever be. At least she wasn't doing any kung fu bullshit just desperation measures and the kind of tactics they probably teach in rape defence classes. Go for the eyes, go for the nuts.

I get the feeling I might be the only person who likes Esther, and actually shockingly Rex is growing on me. In fact I much prefered the US scenes to the Welsh scenes in this episode. Gwen just annoyed the hell out of me, I kept expecting her to wag her finger at that Doctor.

There's some interesting ideas behind this story, but good lord it's like logic's just been thrown out of the window...and thrown even further than RTD would usually do.

^ I am getting pretty tired of all this gay stuff in these episodes though, its completely unnecessary.

I'm tired of all the straight stuff. it's completely unnecessary.

Actually I just wish Jack would go back to flirting with everyone, not just blokes

I just wish he'd get on with doing the job and stop padding the story. I'm starting to wonder if giving torchwood another chance was a good idea. If it was originally expanded from 5 stories I wonder how much time they had to rewrite?

I really miss Dr Who.

Well given that nothing happened this week there isn't much point in posting. I could copy and past my comments from last week as they still all stand this week.

Yes of course part of the show is about the journey, but when does the journey start?

We are sitting at the station looking at our watches waiting for the train to pull out.

I'll start tutting and looking at my watch soon.

You do think a more episodic style of storytelling might have been a better idea if they were going for 10 or more episodes.

At least next week's episode looks like it'll be something different, and something that might move the story along.

Of course it might also be a pointless flashback that's only there to pad things out. At least there might be an alien in it (not that I'd be that unhappy if aliens weren't behind Miracle Day)

I'm seriously losing interest with it now. The Jack/PhiCorp guy scene was good, most of the Welsh stuff was good, the rest I didn't care. There's about 5 or 10 minutes worthwhile stuff per episode. Rhys is the highlight of the show when he's on.

Not bad, Ernie Hudson was fun, Rex is thick as pigshit, and there was a bit of sledgehammering going on...

The trailer for next week looks OK, but for one major thing - Gwen tasers and binds Jack then asks him to provide a Highlander-style flashback? Why not just tell him her family's being held, and ask him...?

Maybe they're watching her?
They might have told her she has to keep the contacts in all the time.
That's my guess given the way the contacts work. Begs the question how anyone else got access to them [and why the crew back in LA cant read or see what happens to Gwen].

As to the episode. Meh. Again, too long drawn out. The previous episode was a drag out of getting into the camps, this one looked like it was going to be a drag out of getting out of the camps. Middle Man thing was good, moreso because Jack had actually something to do. The big problem this story has been just how much he has been sidelined. The next episode seems to make it look like he's going to get a lot more involved. So hopefully that means things are going to pick up.

At present the camps feel as though they were a story telling meander and the result of sneaking in and exposing the burning of cat 1 people has resulted in nothing. The world knows but they went so what.

So the question now is, what's in China that caused your man to decide to become a member of the 45 club rather than face the reality of whatever it was? Who is after Jack and why so important when he can just be killed?

I may give up on this new Torchwood. Its just damn boring as hell, with a few cool bits thrown into the mix to keep people interested. Nothing seems to happen and when it does its a few minutes and thats it.

Considering its a part american production it lacks pace. Infact i think RTD may have accidentally invented time travel as its going so slowly it may aswell be travelling in reverse.

Fair enough the plot is a good one but the pacing and length is too much.

Im giving it my attention. And ill see it out, just hope it improves.

What would make would have been Ernie Hudson saying to jack: "Ive seen shit that'll turn you white!"

Maybe we should just watch the trailers then the final. I started to like Esther more then i realised she was just blundering into danger again like everyone else.

^ I am getting pretty tired of all this gay stuff in these episodes though, its completely unnecessary.

I think it's quintessential Jack, though. He's always been inappropriately flirty. If anything, I think they should have him hit more on both genders, but he should continue with being completely unnecessary - it's what he does.

Did Gwen blow up the over flow camp? what about all the people inside?

I think she just did the modules and the gas tanks feeding into them. They still would've been empty. They weren't going to start moving a new batch of people in until 6 am, and even with Mr. Officious delaying Rhys, the jailbreak wouldn't have been more than an hour.

Well either it was that horrifying, or else he was made to do it, maybe his family threatened or something.
