I liked this episode even better than the first, maybe because it usually takes a while for me to get into a series/season. I loved the last scene. The way the MI5 guy leaned against the tank seemed like something out of a comic or a silent movie.
The prison break was great. I also liked how well the peril and silent desperation the Torchwood guys find themselves in was portrayed.

Another good ep. Really good.

Noticed no one voted the "RTD is a hack" option yet. What's going on??

And the line that made me laugh was Frobisher's daughters:
"We want a pony. We want a pony. We want a pony. We want a pony. We want a pony. We want a pony. We want a pony. We want a pony. We want a pony."

Especially since this episode wasn't written by RTD, if I'm not mistaken. There was at least one vote for 'bad' yesterday, too.

Yeah, that was funny. Too bad they have a father that's obviously incapable of showing emotion.

The first episode threatened to kill him (which we all know wouldn't have worked), the second was a prison break. Not. The. Same.
from the point of view of Gwen and Ianto it was but the top secert government agency really just switched to plan B in that episode, its not like they put him in the concrete to help Ianto bust him out.

Both times you were left wondering, how will Jack get out of this, 1 he did it more or less by himself, the second time with a little help from Ianto.

If you cant see that all the 2nd episode did for Jack, was to bring him back to life, kill him again and then bring him back to life agian, then there is no hope for this discussion.

Plenty happened to the ensemble. I hate to employ such a horrid cliche, but seriously, *did* we watch the same thing?!
yes they all relocated to London, and meet Lois Lane, whilst rescuing Jack which they could have done at the start of the episode in Cardiff and then all 4 of them could have gone to London in the back of a spud lorry.

It won't have been for nothing, it provided the damn dramatic conflict for episode 2.
if it was a prison break as you suggest, there was no need for the concrete, he could have been kept in a super strong mummys coffin for all the good it did.

If you felt that I was making a personal attack (which I wasn't) and flouting the rules (which I wasn't) then notify a mod if it's that much of an issue to you.
im not going to get a mod involved, I would rather hammer it out in person, explaining the points ive made, getting a mod involved shows nothing.

if it was a prison break as you suggest

Just to respond to this -

It's not a prison break "as I suggest". It's a prison break full stop. He's been locked away in a cell (filled with concrete, sure) under armed guard ie imprisoned. His team find out where he's being held and break him out (in this case, quite bloody literally). Hence, a prison break.

Aaaaaaaand we're back to the Lord of the Rings point again.

You're right though. This discussion is pointless.

Good all round, plus i think i glimpsed from the trailer who would me jumping out of that gas in that room...

it just to me like we didnt really need it, and we would be at the same place at the end of the episode if they had not filled the cell with concrete than we were.

I dont see how it added to the drama, the show just proved the show can survive anything, so for them the to expect us to wonder how he survives and is broken out again is pointless.

It would be like if the two of us finished this arguement and then started another one, only for the mods to come in and tells us both off, when that is what they should have done long before now.

Average. This 2nd episode seemed to slow down. Although the escape at the end was decent. Not too much happened really. More creepy kids say what we already now. We just know it's tomorrow. A few clues about the atmosphere, but I'm suspecting a misdirection. I don't think it's what "they" breathe. I think it's a poison trap. Lure someone, maybe the PM, there and then let the poison free. I'm suspecting this is targetted at someone who was responsible for something. Not sure of the details yet . . .

But, this episode was mostly tedious. And, what's with all the naked (mostly fat) guys. What about some naked women?!

All in all, this episode just marked time and returned things to the status quo (re: Jack) at the end.

Hoping things pick up next episode.

the whole "build it and they will come thing" has been done a few times before in Sci-Fi.

That, I'm guessing, is intentional misdirection. I'm thinking that chamber is actually more of a gas tank. The gas will be released to poison someone. I'm guessing the PM.

There ya go wamdue, I think he just explained your point of view a lot better than you ever did.

While I disagree, I can see where you're coming from. I didn't think it was tedious and I'm enjoying that we're getting more character moments than we've had in the past.

^^^To be sure, I still enjoyed it and am curious to watch how it plays out. It had nice character moments. Just not much progress in this one.

yes he did didnt, maybe now some of you realise what ive banging on about all day.

and he has a point I didnt mention, naked women, we should have naked women.

as for the gas tank, yeah it makes it very easy for the aliens to kill whoever is in the room.

Y'know, Jack is from the future. If these guys are such bigtime, then Jack probably not only knows them and how they interact with the earth in different eras, but they probably owe him money, it's just like when the Doctor met the Slytheen for the first time, he knew all about them, he just needed their name to connect the dots.

Shouldn't Torchwood, what remained of torchwood, by the way an ex beatcop and cha walla? OO. Scary, have legged it for the Queen to get new orders? Yes i did read the still page which is probably online anyways about Victoria saying that Torchwood is not above the government, but can you imagine Gwen leading a platoon of fully kitted beefeaters against Whitehall?

Constitutional Crisis aside, the PM is bowing to probably hillbillies with a parlour trick, unless there's some scary evidence about what they got up to last time they were on Earth about why they're not to be fucked with?

^As for the women, I wouldn't complain, but I don't particularly care about the naked guys.

Naked guys are kindling for your own adventures. In any nuditychainreaction someone has to be the first person to take their clothes off, and that someone is usually jack or somebugger just like him.

By the way? How many Jacks grew back? hmmm? There could be a couple dozen Captain Jack Harkness waging war in the final conflict? I have to wonder now if the Other-body-parts-of-Bo where parading around the future being famous like maybe the Arm of Bo and the Cock of Bo, all with distinct personality and modes of communication?

Now putting Naked women in would just be sexist;):p
