Well that was a week of quite outstanding TV!

It feels like either TW is dead (a natural break seeing as it's RTD's show and he's leaving) or it's getting a major retooling. IF it was over wouldn't they have a press release ready to go at the end?

I guess the 456 will stay away from Earth knowing we have a weapon to own there druged up asses. I would hope we get one more mini series to wrap up the series maybe something like Torchwood : End of Days (make it sound dramatic ) we have that pesky rift I would love a plot about that also ain't Jacks evil brother alive still ?

^ Is that Jack's evil brother who was drugged up in a box in the Hub which has been obliterated? Doubt it. Wouldn't want to see him again anyway.

Less Gray, more Victorian Torchwood lesbians I say.

TBH I dont see why Torchwood should come back, could it get any better than this? anything that follows this will be a let down?

in a way it feels like RTDs wrote a story about how a government would react to an alien invasion, and then remembered to include Torchwood, so he could sell it to the BBC, as Torchwood S3.

Never thought BSG was depressing, bleak sure, but they never reached depressing. Where as many British Sci-Fi shows have, and tonight there was definitely depressing moments in this.

Fair doos. I thought alot of the major events in the show were depressing, but they often followed them up with a victory, it was only in the last season the victories became virtually non existent.

You are right though, alot of British shows are depressing in nature, and this was probably one of the most depressing ive seen.

For God's sake never watch Threads

Christ, I have and Had forgotten about it till you mentioned it.

Fuck you.

God.

:p

Wow...what an ending to an outstanding week of TV! Also I'll be able to watch it again normally as Space is showing Children of Earth starting on July 20...and on Day Five we get to see Planet of the Dead! As I mentioned in one of the other threads I'm really curious about the future of Torchwood. It seems like its' over now...

I guesss we have to wait for the BBC to say something on the matter

Why weren't the UNIT troops who replaced the mass murdered civil servant team at the Thames House wearing NBC suits? And where the hell did their balls go?!

I was also angry at Frobisher for taking the coward's way out of a solvable situation (like that other berk in The Mist). The government being cruel, double crossing, and spineless was not exactly out of the blue, considering how Her Majesty's government turned against it populace before in "Turn Left". The ending was not a genuine cop out, no more than in TNG's "The Best of Both Worlds" against another set of hive minded aliens, although RTD has painted himself into corner in regards to Torchwood since he has literally demolished the original show and Captain Jack is now in exile.

And considering the critical and ratings success of "Children of Earth", the BBC and NuWho production team cannot just pull the plug on Torchwood. This was the best NuWho related story since "Midnight".

My problem with all this shared universe stuff: Where was The Doctor during all this? Wouldn't he know about these horrible events, try and stop them, protect the planet, etc?

If The Doctor had never met Jack back during the blitz, then what would have happened to Earth the first time around?

I've waited until the final episode before commenting, so here's my opinion. Bloody brilliant. It's a bit of a shock, I know.

I haven't been this impressed with a TV series since I watched Babylon 5. And to top it off this was Torchwood. Fucking Torchwood! How did Torchwood become Must See TV that puts it among the best science fiction ever made? I could barely convince myself that this series was worth 5 hours of my life after the abysmal first series and mediocre second series. And now this. I think I'm in shock.

What next? Is Meet the Spartans 2 going to outclass Citizen Kane?

Yeah I was wondering where the Doctor was during this as well. It was rumored he might make an appearance but I assume he didn't because RTD wanted this to be a Torchwood story not a Doctor Who story.

I think it would be a cop out for either Torchwood or Sarah Jane if the Doctor comes in and saves the day, however bad it was that Jack did it, he still had to do it, and the show had really been bringing us to that moment, to just have the Doc show up totally ruins that.

What other point would their have been for Jack to even have a grandchild in this story?
