Top Gear New Series

Yep. It's the only TG special I won't rewatch. VERY predictable snoozefest.

Same. I was really disappointed with it.

I don't think it helped that they had a 7,000 pound budget for the cars. They were all too reliable and lacked any personality.

What I didn't like about it was that the comedy moments seemed more staged than usual. For example Hammond's car tearing itself apart while he looked at James's car as if not noticing.

In no way "new", but BBCA is running more Lost Season eps starting tonight (1/2) @ 8pm ET. 2 episodes every Monday.

If they go back far enough, we might get to see black Stig.

^ These are from late 2003, which look to be Series 3. Dawe was only in Series 1, I believe. Maybe later in the year they'll get to S2 & S1 as Lost Episodes.

Edit: Yep. The start of S3 and we saw the black Stig for about 5 minutes. Have to wait for "lost" S2 episodes for more of him.

First of all it didn't really register with me that Clarkson is an epic t*at. Then it registered and I ignored it. Then I had to try harder to ignore it. Now I can't. I don't think I'll be watching more TG.

Snap. It gets harder over time doesn't it?

I'm still able to distinguish between the person and the character he plays on TV, so I'm still watching!

Which is why I was able to go with it for so long, I always thought of him as a comedy character on Top Gear, but the man is repugnant and I'm finding it harder to laugh off.

I can't see any difference myself. All I know about him is how he appears on TG, in interviews and in his column. I don't care for him in any of those personae, so he might be somehow "different" in "real life", but since I don't see that aspect of him, I couldn't judge.

I've been watching him since he was on the old Top Gear series so his stuff pretty much washes off me. Being that way is what makes him popular also.

The most obvious one was the documentary he did about the Dieppe raid in WW2- he's a totally different person in that one

I thought the India special was shit. Predictable, repetitive and more cringeworthy than funny.

Same here and a lot of fans on final gear and the TG website agree with you.

This is the first Top Gear special i've been disappointed by.
I watch it mainly for James May, he could make opening a tin of beans interesting.
Clarkson can be a pain at times, but i think it mostly an act. He was also rather good on Who Do You Think You Are?

An actual new series starts on Sunday -
Thank fuck for that! I was beginning to think that, with Sherlock and Only Connect finished, no Dr Who until at least September, and even Game Of Thrones not starting till April, that it was going to be a long-ass winter and spring with nothing on TV...

And in a month or so, it'll be on BBCA. Definitely something to look forward to.

I've quite enjoyed the first two shows. Not over the top, pretty low key even. I think that was both a necessary and welcome move.

I've been to China before and have seen their cars, so the china trip was extremely hilarious to me. For one, the maximum legal top speed oh highways seem to be around 60kph (38mph). So when Jeremy mentioned that the chinese crash test speed was considerably lower, I was already nodding my head in agreement... in comes James May driving the car towards the crash wall. :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:
