Top Gear New Series

I think I said that. Two Yorkshire alpha males...

Though, to be fair, Jeremy has the advantage in that his idiot is essentially an onscreen character played by a bloke with the same name, whereas Prescott doesn't have that layer of protection in the first half of the segment (he seems to develop it and settle on a character from the "connect with the electorate" line onwards)

Prescott is Welsh...Though stubborn idiot about covers it.

He doesn't sound it then - too long in Hull!

*spits* Can't stand the man. Too long indeed, he was the MP here longer than I've been alive.

Well this would explain it...

The son of a railway signalman and Labour councillor, and grandson of a miner, Prescott was born in Prestatyn (now in Denbighshire), Wales. In 2009, he said: "I’ve always felt very proud of Wales and being Welsh...I was born in Wales, went to school in Wales and my mother was Welsh. I’m Welsh. It’s my place of birth, my country."[2] He left Wales in 1942 at the age of four and was brought up initially in Brinsworth in South Yorkshire, England.

I think I'm gonna give it a miss, unless I'm told it's exceptionally good. I'm getting to the point where I can't stand Clarkson now, though.

Top Gear is one of my favorite Tv show . in fact its a favorite show of all sports cars lovers and the guys have little sense about heavy engines and specifications of good cars .

Special was good - India very interesting and amazing, but the bit with the slogans on the train was very predictable - as soon as they'd put them up, I knew what they'd end up saying when they were ripped....

Honestly, I thought they both came off as stubborn idiots.

Clarkson's statements about executing striker workers indicates his stupidity might go deeper than his on screen persona.

^ that's old news and horrifically out of context. (He actually first said he liked it cos there was less traffic but then added that "because this is the BBC I have to be "balanced" so have them shot...") so the joke was actually about the BBC's policy to having to give both sides....

Anyway, I also have to confess I now want to visit a hotel just to try out the trouser press as a toastie-maker.

Wasn't that a Red Dwarf idea 12 years ago? Lister wanted a transfer to a different wing because they had trouser presses, so he could make toasties.

I don't remember that - but I don't remember much of season 7 or 8 at all

I thought the India special was shit. Predictable, repetitive and more cringeworthy than funny.

And to balance these things out, I thought it was good, not brilliant, but good, but my other half thought it was really good.

Yes it was predictable in parts, but it's been like that with all the big challenges for years now. Although there was driving in it, for a 90 minute programme, not much of it was actual driving though.

One thing that pisses me off, is that Clarkson almost never is the butt of the jokes. He always picks in turn on Richard and James, but it's never really him that's being made fun of. He's a fucking bully, on scripted tv as in real life, and it makes me uncomfortable to watch that.
