Top choices for topping Capaldi?

It could be that part of the 3 season runs contract is that those playing the Doctor don't want to be typecast. They want to move on and act in other shows/movies. I'm not 100% sure - it's also possible the BBC doesn't want the same person playing the Doctor for too long. I do know, however, that Eccleston, Tennant, and Smith wanted to play other roles. I think Capaldi would be happy playing the Doctor for longer. It's possible he'll try to go the Tom Baker route!

The risk of typecasting was bigger for Matt or David than for Peter or Chris. Capaldi has been around for 30+ years yet has already been typecast to a certain extent as Malcolm Tucker. Nonetheless, he still regularly worked while The Thick of It was airing. Now he's in his late 50s, I can't imagine that he'd be too worried about being typecast as the Doctor.

Well if I recall correctly, Eccleston expressed concerns about being typecast in an interview. And yeah, I don't think Capaldi cares at this point. Plus, he's been into Doctor Who since he was a child, and I have no doubt he delights in the role and would love to play it for as long as possible. I have a hard time seeing him as the Doctor rather than Malcolm Tucker though. It's messed up because I've only ever seen Malcolm Tucker clips but still whenever he gets sassy in Doctor Who, that's what I'm reminded of!

I could think Capaldi could think of worse people to be typecast as beside the Doctor.

Also he seems to be having fun with it when he goes to the Doctor Who Experiance as the Doctor. He seem to get more into it when he can just go for it with kids questions. Bringing up Susan seeming out of nowhere and seeming to regret not going back to see her like he promised.
